Role

We're seeking an entrepreneurial Director of Finance to establish and lead our finance function as we scale from seed to Series A and beyond.



You'll be the architect of our financial operations, building the systems and insights that power data-driven decisions across the company. A core responsibility will be implementing and overseeing an enterprise-grade analytics system that serves both our internal teams and our veterinary practice clients. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building from scratch, gets excited about making financial data accessible and actionable, and wants to directly impact the health outcomes of millions of pets.

Responsibilities

- Financial Strategy & Operations
- Own all aspects of financial planning, analysis, and reporting as our first finance hire
- Build and maintain financial models that guide our path to Series A and sustainable growth
- Establish scalable financial processes and controls that grow with us to thousands of veterinary hospitals
- Lead monthly/quarterly close processes and board reporting
- Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives including pricing strategy, unit economics optimization, and investment decisions

- Analytics Platform Leadership




- Design and implement an enterprise-grade analytics system in collaboration with our data engineering team
- Oversee the deployment of Sigma Computing for internal dashboards and client-facing analytics
- Define KPIs and metrics that matter for veterinary wellness plans (compliance rates, retention, lifetime value)
- Ensure veterinary partners have real-time visibility into wellness program performance
- Build financial analytics and case studies that connect wellness outcomes to practice economics and medical compliance

- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Data Engineering to support BigQuery data warehouse with Sigma Computing analytics
- Collaborate with Hospital Success to design analytics that help practices improve wellness metrics
- Work with Product to incorporate financial insights into the platform roadmap




- Support Sales with ROI models and financial cases for prospective veterinary groups

- Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead financial due diligence for Series A and future funding rounds
- Maintain investor reporting and communications
- Build relationships with venture partners and potential strategic investors in the pet care space
- Create compelling financial narratives that showcase traction and potential

Qualifications

- Builder Mindset: 5-7+ years of progressive finance experience with at least 2 years in high-growth startups
- Technical Excellence: Advanced financial modeling skills and experience with modern FP&A; tools
- Analytics Leadership: Proven track record implementing BI/analytics platforms for internal and external stakeholders
- Healthcare Experience: Understanding of SaaS metrics and ideally healthcare/veterinary economics




- Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance scrappy execution with building for scale
- Communicator: Ability to translate complex financial concepts for veterinarians, engineers, and investors
- Systems Oriented: Experience selecting and implementing financial systems (ERP, billing, revenue recognition)

Nice to Have

- Experience with veterinary practice economics or animal health industry
- CPA or MBA from a top program
- Familiarity with Sigma Computing, BigQuery, or similar analytics platforms
- Experience with embedded analytics or client-facing reporting products
- Background in subscription/recurring revenue businesses
- Previous experience taking a company from seed to Series B+
