Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to build and scale secure,
high-performance backend services powering enterprise and consumer-facing mobile and
web applications.
This role focuses on improving execution speed, stabilizing release cycles, and designing
modular APIs that support rapid feature expansion without regression risks.




You will work within a globally distributed product engineering team across LATAM, US, EU,
and India.
Location: Mexico / Colombia (LATAM)
Key Responsibilities
Scalable Backend Engineering
● Design and develop RESTful APIs using Java (Spring Boot preferred)
● Build modular, loosely coupled services to support rapid feature growth
● Ensure backend services support both mobile (React Native) and web clients
● Maintain clean API contracts with versioning discipline
Performance & Stability
● Optimize API latency and throughput
● Design resilient services with proper exception handling
● Prevent cascading failures across dependent services
● Improve backend observability and monitoring
Release & Regression Discipline
● Implement automated unit and integration testing
● Ensure backward compatibility during releases
● Reduce "fix one issue, create another" scenarios through structured reviews
● Participate in release readiness validation
Architecture & Complexity Management
● Break down complex business workflows into modular services
● Support early complexity assessment during sprint planning
● Contribute to technical design documentation (ADR, API specs)




● Avoid tightly coupled logic that slows future enhancements
Multi-Version & Governance Control
● Maintain clear API versioning strategy
● Prevent environment drift across markets
● Ensure unified backend services across geographies
● Support feature flag enablement at service level
Cross-Geo Collaboration
● Work closely with React Native mobile engineers
● Collaborate with Product Managers and Technical Leads
● Operate within defined time-zone overlap windows
● Contribute to shared documentation and knowledge continuity
Required Skills
● 5+ years backend development experience
● 3+ years strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot)
● Experience building production-grade REST APIs
● Strong understanding of microservices architecture
● Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
● Experience with caching strategies (Redis preferred)
● Experience with CI/CD pipelines
● Strong debugging and performance troubleshooting skills
Preferred Experience
● Experience supporting mobile-first applications
● Experience handling high-traffic or multi-market deployments
● Familiarity with feature flags and versioning patterns
● Experience with distributed teams
● Exposure to cloud deployments (AWS / Azure / GCP)
