This role demands a professional who embodies strong investment judgment alongside empathy and creativity when working closely with entrepreneurs and rural communities.
The individual will engage in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, executing detailed due diligence, and structuring transactions.
With a proactive approach, the Senior Associate will analyze and select potential investments while supporting Acumen's investment committee processes.
Upon joining, the candidate will partner with portfolio companies, addressing operational matters, attending board meetings, and contributing tactically to strategic discussions.
As a senior member, the candidate will actively manage portfolio companies, providing insights and strategies to scale sustainably.
The position requires close collaboration with team members,
helping the broader team to adapt and excel.ResponsibilitiesIdentify, assess, and help build a high-quality pipeline of investment opportunities.Conduct rigorous commercial, operational, financial, and impact due diligence.Build financial models, perform valuation analysis, and contribute to transaction structuring.Prepare comprehensive investment materials for the Investment Committee.Work directly with entrepreneurs and community-based businesses, understanding models, risks, and impact.Serve as a thought partner to portfolio companies, providing support ranging from problem-solving to strategic guidance.Build trusted relationships with management teams, demonstrating empathy and sound judgment.Track financial and impact performance, strengthening companies' scalability.Support internal portfolio analysis and document key insights and lessons learned.Contribute to materials development for strategic partnerships and external communications.Requirements4–6 years of relevant experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or related fields.Strong financial, analytical, and business judgment, with experience in evaluating early-stage businesses.Experience with due diligence, financial modelling, and transaction execution support.Ability to operate independent execution in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.Strong interpersonal skills and an authentic ability to build trust with stakeholders.Demonstrated interest in underserved community engagement, especially in rural settings.A bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree or MBA is a plus.Proficiency in English and Spanish, with authorization to work in Colombia permanently.BenefitsCompetitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including benefits.
