North America Tax & Unclaimed Property Compliance SpecialistLocation: Bogotá, ColombiaFunction: Finance / Payments / Tax CompliancePurposeWe are seeking an experienced North America Tax & Unclaimed Property Compliance Specialist to support information reporting, withholding, and unclaimed property (escheatment) compliance across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.This role combines complex regulatory execution with strong cross-functional collaboration.The specialist will ensure accurate filings, maintain audit-ready documentation, and support continuous process improvements in partnership with U.S.-based stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesUnclaimed Property (Escheatment) – North AmericaReview and identify dormant, abandoned, or unclaimed property in accordance with state-specific escheatment laws and dormancy periodsPerform due diligence outreach to customers, vendors, employees, or account holders prior to statutory deadlinesPrepare, validate, and file annual unclaimed property reports with applicable U.S. states and jurisdictionsMonitor regulatory and legislative changes impacting unclaimed property reporting requirementsReconcile outstanding balances and research discrepancies related to escheatment transactionsPartner with Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Legal, Compliance, and Customer Service teamsMaintain accurate audit trails, supporting schedules, and documentationSupport state audits, voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), and compliance reviewsAnalyze data using Excel and financial systems to identify escheatable propertyIdentify opportunities to improve processes and reduce unclaimed property exposureSupport escheatment tools, system enhancements, and internal controlsTax Reporting & Withholding Compliance – U.S.,
Puerto Rico, and CanadaPrepare, validate, and support filing of U.S. information returns *****-NEC, ****-MISC, ****-K, ****, ****-S)Manage W-8 and W-9 documentation and vendor tax validationSupport compliance with IRS withholding and backup withholding requirementsPerform TIN matching and resolve B Notices and filing rejectionsPrepare and file Puerto Rico Hacienda information returns and withholding reportsSupport compliance with Puerto Rico withholding certificates and Hacienda portal filingsSupport preparation of Canadian information returns including T4A and NR4 slipsPerform reconciliations between tax filings, ERP systems, and general ledger accountsAssist with tax audits, internal controls testing, and regulatory inquiriesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business, or related field3–5+ years of experience in tax reporting, unclaimed property, payments, or financial complianceWorking knowledge of U.S. unclaimed property laws and IRS information reporting requirementsFamiliarity with Puerto Rico and Canadian information reportingAdvanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large data setsExperience with SAP (S/4HANA, Lynx), Workday, Tab Services, or unclaimed property tools preferredStrong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate effectively in a general, matrixed environmentRequired SkillsAccountingAccounts Payable (AP)Accounts Receivable (AR)Analytical ReasoningBusiness BehaviorCollaboratingCommunicationConsultingDetail-OrientedFinancial AnalysisFinancial RecordkeepingFinancial ReportsFinancial Risk Management (FRM)Multi-Currency AccountingNumerically SavvyOrganizingProblem SolvingProcess Optimization#J-*****-Ljbffr
