What You’ll Do
As a Lead Product Designer on the Customer Experience team, you'll independently own design direction across small-to-medium client engagements — from discovery through delivery — for complex products in industries like financial services, energy, and enterprise technology. You'll navigate existing product ecosystems, work within (and improve) design systems at varying levels of maturity, and bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces where the brief, the system, or the client's vision isn't yet defined.
You'll partner directly with US and Canadian client stakeholders as a senior design voice, communicating design decisions in business terms and facilitating the workshops, stakeholder interviews,
and discovery activities that shape product direction. Across the LATAM team, you'll uphold a consistent design point of view — collaborating with other designers to ensure coherence and quality across concurrent engagements.
You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and product partners throughout delivery, using modern prototyping and agentic design tools to communicate intent quickly and keep product, design, and engineering aligned around a single source of truth. You'll also identify organic growth opportunities within client engagements and contribute to Slalom's broader design practice through case studies, reusable patterns, and points of view.
What You’ll Bring
Lead Product Designers at Slalom bring deep design craft, the judgment to own direction end-to-end, and the experience to navigate complex, real-world product environments — not just clean-slate builds. You operate independently with client stakeholders, hold the quality bar across a team's work, and know how to translate ambiguous business needs into clear design direction. In order to meet these expectations, you will need to possess:
- 7+ years of experience in product design or UX design — professional services or consulting experience strongly preferred
- A portfolio demonstrating systems-level thinking, design craft, and shipping velocity across multiple product types (web, native, voice, and/or mixed reality)
- Proven ability to independently own design direction across full engagements with minimal oversight
- Experience working on complex, industry-heavy products (e.g., financial services, energy, enterprise platforms) — not just consumer or marketing-focused work
- Demonstrated ability to work within and improve existing design systems, including navigating immature or inconsistent system environments
- Fluency in modern product design software (Figma, Penpot, Framer, etc.) and experience with agentic design and prototyping tools (Figma Make, Lovable, Claude Code, etc.)
- Experience facilitating workshops and leading stakeholder interviews to define product direction
- Ability to communicate with US and Canadian clients at a business level and translate their needs into design solutions
