Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced environmental and/or social performance specialist to join the Energy Environment and Social Team in Colombia.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Environment and Social Resource Lead in the UK
- Line management responsibility for the environment and social team in Colombia
- Resource planning; resource allocation; recruitment; performance management; training and development; promotion of health, safety and wellbeing; coaching and development of staff
- Lead the delivery and growth of the environment and social team’s services with a focus on the energy sector
- Develop and implement the business plan in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Coordination of responses to requests for proposals
- Leading environmental and social assessment, due diligence and monitoring projects
- Financial responsibility and project principal/manager of large environment and social projects
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in relevant discipline
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Extensive relevant postgraduate work experience in environment or social disciplines including Environmental Impact and Social Assessment, due diligence and construction and operational monitoring
- Extensive track record in assessing energy projects for compliance with international lenders’ requirements
- Technical leadership and analytical skills
- Experience in delegating responsibilities and accountabilities; managing performance; motivating staff; creating open communication
- Skills in project management; programming and planning; resource allocation; financial management; contractual acumen
- Ability to develop and manage customer and client relationships
- Experience of working on projects in Latin America, the Caribbean
- Fluent in Spanish and English
Desirable Qualifications
- Fluent in French
- Experience of working on projects in Europe and Africa
- In depth skills in a specialist area of environment or social safeguards
