Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach and achieve desired outcomes. Key responsibilities include measuring and documenting vital signs, identifying patient concerns and reporting them to colleagues, and moving, turning or relocating patients as needed for comfort and medical requirements. The idóneo PCT demonstrates patience, empathy, intuition, effective communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

- Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized
- Assist patients with daily needs (personal hygiene, restroom use, grooming)
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition
- Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments
- Ensure rooms have adequate supplies and linen is clean
- Provide emotional support as needed
- Place patient on cardiac monitor
- Empty drains, ostomies, and Foley bags
- Perform blood sugar checks
- Assist with additional duties assigned by the department leader

Qualifications





High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. One year of patient care experience or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Basic Life Support certification within two weeks of hire required and must be maintained.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors and outdoors, and work from elevated or confined spaces. Must lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform gross and fine motor tasks. Must maintain vision, hearing, and tactile sensory functions required for respirator use.
