Overview

Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international non‑profit organization that seeks to create a more sustainable world by combining social and market forces. RA partners with diverse allies worldwide to drive positive change in integral supply chains and protect critical natural landscapes.

1. Background

Our new Certification Program introduces several innovations, notably risk‑based assurance. The License Review is a methodology within this assurance mechanism, and the information collected can be used by RA to assess the performance of Certificate Holders (CH) and Certifying Bodies.

The transition to the new RA2020 Standard requires not only knowledge and implementation of its requirements but also ensuring that certificate holders can adapt to the new certification process—from registration on the certification platform, audit planning, contacting a Certifying Body, receiving the audit, closing non‑conformities, to obtaining the license that allows them to market their product as Rainforest Alliance certified.

2. Objectives of the Consultancy

2.1. General Objective: Support the Quality Implementation Team (QoI) by reviewing Certification Application Forms, Group Member Registries, and other audit documents for license approvals, provisional licenses, and by participating in audit observations and follow‑ups on specific topics.

2.2. Specific Objectives:

- Conduct reviews of audit documents (Certification Application Form, Audit Checklist, Group Member Register, Certificate, Checklist, and others) for RA audits in the region using the License Review methodology.




- Identify LATAM Certificate Holders (CH) approaching license expiry and verify their current status to complete the next audit steps.
- Follow up with Program Certification Officers or Customer Success (CS) personnel to ensure CHs have begun registration at least three months in advance.
- Assist QoI in executing scheduled audit observations for LATAM.

3. Scope

The consultancy will be implemented in the Latin America region.

4. Main Activities of the Consultant

- Review audit documents (Certification Application Form, Audit Checklist, Group Member Register, Certificate, Checklist, etc.) for RA audits in the region using the License Review methodology.
- Analyze the audit planning database to identify holders who have already scheduled an audit.
- When data is missing, contact the respective CPS or CS team to follow up with CHs.
- Monitor CPS follow‑up and verify registration status in RACP, risk maps, self‑assessment, and CB Handshake.
- Coordinate with CS and GIS Guatemala to ensure all steps have been successfully completed.
- Upon successful completion, issue the provisional license.
- Create a weekly report of approved licenses and provisional licenses and send it to the QoI Manager.
- Ensure the license issuance deadline is met per Certification Rules after the audit.
- Identify new organizations certifying for the first time.
- Conduct audit observations.

5. Profile of the Consultant

Education: Administrator, Systems Engineer, or any relevant engineering discipline (agronomist, agricultural, agroindustrial).
