Manager Market Development – Latam & Caribbean

Responsibilities
- Lead market development activities in selected Latam & Caribbean countries to generate growth by opening new markets for our technology and services.
- Drive Latam growth by originating new business opportunities and determining prospects for opening other markets for Wärtsila’s adaptable generation.
- Develop and execute the market development strategy and action plans for selected countries in the LATAM & Caribbean area for thermal balancing and base load solutions.
- Manage the creation of market‑specific power system analyses, meaningful power generation investment scenarios, market‑level value propositions, and business proposals to target customers.
- Identify and prioritize key decision makers from customers and stakeholders in selected target countries.
- Interact continuously with external stakeholders such as policy makers, research institutes, and key power industry companies.
- Lead stakeholder‑influencing actions to change investment strategies and tender requirements of utilities in key markets.
- Develop internal relationships to leverage team output across Business Development and Area Sales, and coordinate activities with Latam & Caribbean sales organizations.
- Build a strong on‑the‑ground network for focal areas and target countries.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Energy, Business Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the power or energy industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, power generation structures and electricity market design.
- Understanding of power system and electricity market modelling, and value proposition development.
- Excellent communication, influencing and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated capability to present complex topics in plain language.
- Entrepreneurial attitude, goal‑oriented with skills to develop solutions for clients.
- Multicultural sensitivity, ability to build relations and work in multicultural teams.
- Strategic forward thinker, positive mindset and proactive way of working.
- Persuasive and value‑based selling competence.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Full professional fluency in Spanish required.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
