Senior Structural EngineerCompany: HatchLocation: Medellin, Antioquia, ColombiaRequisition ID: *****Job Category: EngineeringThe Senior Structural Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services primarily for heavy industrial projects, largely related to mining.
The role covers concrete foundations and structural steel design, including layout development, structural analysis for both front-end planning and detailed engineering phases, client interaction, site investigations and inspections, and rehabilitation designs.
The engineer prepares calculations, supervises designers and junior engineers, and develops technical specifications, data sheets and reports.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Engineering Manager or Project Manager with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule for large projects.Lead a structural team to deliver small to medium-sized projects, managing scope, cost, schedule, and quality.Manage small structural sustaining capital projects.Ensure implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.Prepare engineering calculations and review calculations prepared by junior engineers.Prepare technical specifications and engineering drawings for construction and/or rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures for various facilities.Prepare and contribute to technical design or inspection memos and reports.Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria.Review and seal documents and drawings as required.Perform site visits to client sites for review, inspection,



and assessment of existing structures.Assist in preparing proposals and client interaction.Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers on the project team.Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialA recognized degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college or university.Registration as a professional engineer.12+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 3 years of relevant experience on heavy industrial projects, preferably related to mining and processing facilities.Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards.Good communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.Ability to function with minimal supervision.Experience with MathCad, Staad.Pro, SAP ****, or similar structural analysis software.Sound knowledge of 3D data‐centric design systems.Familiarity with North American codes and standards.Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and supervise and mentor others.Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
PreferredSound knowledge of engineering management systems.Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects.Good leadership skills.Why join us?
