We invite highly motivated Mechanical Engineers to join our Project Delivery Group at our Medellín office.
In this role, you will support the delivery of complex projects across the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.ResponsibilitiesEnsure all mechanical engineering work complies with mandatory health and safety standards, applicable regulations, and client engineering requirements.Develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements related to scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.Prepare engineering deliverables and time‐based functions to facilitate budget planning and control.Support site field visits to gather information and data necessary for project success.Lead equipment identification and selection activities, including sizing, layout, technical specifications, and vendor information reviews.Lead piping system design activities: hydraulic analysis, piping and instrumentation diagram development, material specification development, stress analysis, and layout.Develop the work plan for inclusion in the project execution plan and maintain the project's scope of work documentation, revising as needed during design evolution.Manage and review engineering work packages to ensure budget and schedule targets are met; take corrective action when necessary.Review and approve technical deliverables.Assist in preparing and developing project‐specific procedures.Manage system requirements to achieve project results and monitor effectiveness.Represent the Mechanical/Piping practice in project engineering coordination meetings.Coordinate with the Mechanical/Piping team and other disciplines to align activities as the design evolves.Ensure quality audits of engineering work are performed according to project procedures and the quality assurance plan, maintaining technical documentation.Participate in HAZOP reviews.Resolve engineering issues throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases.Promote and maintain ethical and professional practices during engineering work.Adhere to and promote Hatch's corporate safety culture.QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.Minimum 10 years of engineering experience.Ability to manage and motivate individuals to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives.Strong deliverable focus with the ability to plan work effectively.Deep understanding of inter‐discipline dependencies related to mechanical engineering.Good grasp of procurement, contracting, and commissioning methodologies.Sound knowledge of applicable codes and standards.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Site experience in a technical role is preferred.BenefitsVersatile work environment that encourages global thinking and local action.Long‐term career development opportunities.Collaborative culture with a focus on innovative solutions.Equal Opportunity EmployerHatch is an Equal Opportunity Employer that considers applicants without regard to age, race, color, national origin, citizenship, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status.
