Java Engineer Forward Deployed Engineer | OpenRewrite & AI-Assisted Software Modernization

Lead Java Solutions Engineer (Enterprise Modernization) · LATAM

We’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to join an international project focused on enterprise software modernization, Java/JVM, OpenRewrite, and AI-assisted development .

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, technical execution, customer-facing problem solving, and large-scale code transformation .

You’ll work with enterprise engineering teams that need to modernize complex codebases, improve software quality, remediate security issues, and enable AI coding agents to operate more effectively across large multi-repository environments.

The project is connected to a platform that helps engineering organizations analyze, transform, and modernize code at scale using deterministic automation, OpenRewrite recipes, semantic code intelligence, and AI agent workflows .

This is not a traditional support role.

It is a hands-on technical position where you’ll help execute modernization initiatives such as:

Framework upgrades

Platform migrations

Security remediation

CI/CD troubleshooting

Dependency management

Custom OpenRewrite recipes

Large-scale refactoring programs

AI coding agent enablement

Developer productivity and SDLC automation

Key experience we’re looking for:

Java / JVM

Maven and Gradle

Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI

Artifactory or Nexus

Enterprise engineering environments





Advanced troubleshooting across builds, dependencies, pipelines, and integrations

AI Coding Tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar

Advanced English communication skills

Nice to have:

OpenRewrite

SonarQube / Checkmarx

Java 8 to Java 17 migrations

Legacy codebase modernization

Large-scale multi-repository refactoring

Customer-facing technical experience with enterprise clients

AI-driven development, SDLC automation, or developer productivity platforms

We’re looking for someone with strong technical judgment, autonomy, systems thinking, and the ability to operate in complex enterprise environments where code quality, scalability, security, and modernization matter.
