Job Requirements Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Experience
- Minimum of +7 years of progressive experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar senior IT role.
- Proven experience managing production IT infrastructure in a fast-paced business environment.
- Strong experience supporting on-premises and hybrid environments, including servers, networking, Microsoft 365, virtualization, storage, backups, and security tools.
- Experience serving as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Experience planning, implementing, and supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and system improvements.
- Experience working in environments where uptime, reliability, and quick response are critical.
- Experience documenting systems, procedures, and recovery processes.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server administration.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID.
- Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, print services, and permissions management.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, restore testing, and business continuity support.
- Experience with endpoint management, patching, antivirus/EDR, and device lifecycle support.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation; Bash or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and AWS is preferred.
- Experience with storage technologies, RAID, SAN/NAS, and server hardware troubleshooting.
System Administration Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support core infrastructure systems across servers, virtualization, networking, storage, and Microsoft 365.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, security groups, access controls, and policy enforcement.
- Monitor system health, performance, availability, and capacity to ensure stable operations.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of escalated infrastructure, server, and network issues.
- Maintain patching, backups, disaster recovery readiness, and restoration procedures.
- Support infrastructure security efforts, including hardening, vulnerability remediation, MFA, and access controls.
- Lead or assist with infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and SOPs.
Problem-Solving and Leadership
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple issues at once.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to mentor junior IT staff and provide guidance on best practices.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
Preferred, But Not Required
- Relevant certifications are a plus, but proven experience and technical ability are valued more heavily.
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or 24/7 operations environments is a plus.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools, audits, compliance, and infrastructure hardening is a plus.
