About Us
HireOnUs is a staffing and recruiting agency that connects skilled Latin American talent with U.S.-based companies. We're currently hiring on behalf of our client, a solar installation company dedicated to helping U.S. residential/commercial customers go solar with a smooth, hassle-free experience. They're looking for an organized, detail-driven, remote-based Solar Project Coordinator / Permit & Design Specialist to keep projects moving from contract to installation.
About the Role
This role sits at the center of the project pipeline — coordinating solar installations from sale through completion, preparing system designs, and managing the permitting process with local U.S. authorities and utility companies. This is fully remote, desk-based work (no on-site visits required) — you'll be the glue that keeps projects on schedule and compliant, working closely with a U.S.-based team.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate solar projects from post-sale through installation and interconnection
- Prepare or oversee preparation of solar system designs and site plans
- Submit permit applications to local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and track approvals
- Submit interconnection applications and coordinate with utility companies
- Communicate project timelines and updates to customers, sales reps, and installation crews
- Order equipment and materials needed for each project
- Maintain accurate project records and status updates in project management software
- Troubleshoot and resolve permitting or design issues, redlines, or plan revisions
- Schedule inspections and coordinate with local inspectors as needed
- Ensure all projects comply with local codes, utility requirements, and industry standards (NEC, IBC, etc.)
Requirements
- 4 years of experience in solar, construction, or a related permit/design coordination role
- Familiarity with solar design software (e.g., [Aurora Solar, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar])
- Understanding of the permitting and interconnection process for residential/commercial solar
- Fluent English (spoken and written) required — you'll be coordinating directly with U.S. customers, inspectors, and utilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with project management or CRM tools ([e.g., SolarGraf, monday.com, Salesforce])
- Knowledge of NEC and local U.S. building codes a plus
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet home workspace
- [High school diploma required / Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred]

- This is a 1099 independent contractor position
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Flexibility to structure your work as an independent contractor
- Ongoing pipeline of work with a growing U.S. solar company
