Legal Assistant – Deportation Defense
Remote | Adaptable Schedule | Full-Time | Bilingual Preferred (Not required)
Since 2010, we’ve been freeing people the U.S. government is trying to deport. Want to help us?
Raleigh Immigration Law Firm is a bilingual Deportation Defense Law Firm. We use creative strategies and fight to do everything legally possible to keep families together in the United States. We provide an extreme level of customer service and transparency, so our clients understand what’s happening every step of the way.
If you believe that hard work and a kind soul matter more than place of birth, and want to help people facing one of the most challenging crises of their lives, keep reading.
This Is Not a Routine Administrative Role.
You will be the direct point of contact between our clients and the rest of the legal team. These clients are in active deportation proceedings. Some are detained by ICE. They are scared. They have questions. They need to feel supported and they need information to reach the right person, fast. You keep every case moving by making sure nothing gets lost, delayed, or missed.
Missing or incomplete information from a client or their family can delay a filing, and a delay can mean the difference between staying with family or facing permanent separation, or being sent back into a dangerous situation.
If you can hold that responsibility calmly, communicate clearly, and stay organized under pressure, keep reading.
Tired of outperforming everyone around you and getting paid the same as them? Not here. This is a Results-Only Work Environment: what you earn is tied to what you deliver, not your tenure or your job title, and there’s no cap on it. We hold people to a high bar, and we pay like it.
The Role
You will handle most client communication, obtain and organize documentation, and keep notes in the CMS updated with the client requests.
There is:
- No legal advice
- No case strategy
- No independent decision-making on case matters
You work under the direction of the Paralegal. When a client calls, you respond. When a document arrives, you upload it. When something is unclear, you escalate immediately.
This role requires evening availability (after 5:00 PM ET) at least 2–3 days per week and occasional weekend availability, depending on case needs.
The rest of your schedule is up to you.
What You’ll Do
- Learn from the Paralegal what action needs to communicate with clients by phone, email, and messaging as directed by the Paralegal
- Request documents and information from clients according to Paralegal instructions
- Upload and properly label all client documents within 24 hours of receipt
- Maintain accurate Attorney and Paralegal calendars, updated in 4 business hours
- Record all communications, notes, and updates in the CMS after every client interaction
- Notify the Paralegal via the CMS when documents, updates, or urgent client situations arise
- Track time accurately on every case
What We’re Looking For
- Previous administrative, legal assistant, or customer service experience preferred
- Immigration law experience is a plus, not required
- Bilingual Spanish–English preferred
- Strong communicator: clear, professional, and calm with clients in difficult situations. (Imagine working at the lost luggage counter for an airline. If that sounds like hell, don’t apply.)
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously
- Comfortable with evening availability at least 2–3 days per week
