Immigration Paralegal – Removal Defense
Remote | Adaptable Schedule | Full-Time | English Required (Spanish Preferred)
Since 2010, we’ve been freeing people the U.S. government is trying to deport. Want to help us?
Raleigh Immigration Law Firm is a bilingual Deportation Defense Law Firm. We use creative strategies and fight to do everything legally possible to keep families together in the United States. We provide an extreme level of customer service and transparency, so our clients understand what’s happening every step of the way.
If you believe that hard work and a kind soul matter more than place of birth, and want to help people facing one of the most challenging crises of their lives, keep reading.
This Is Not a Standard Paralegal Role.
You will manage active deportation cases for people detained by ICE or in removal proceedings, making sure nothing falls through the cracks. Deadlines are real. The consequences are permanent. A missed filing can end someone’s future in the United States, causing permanent separation from their family or sending them into a dangerous situation.
If that level of responsibility sharpens your focus, and doesn’t stress you out, keep reading.
We do everything legally possible to stop deportations and keep families in the U.S. You will be the operational engine behind that mission.
Tired of outperforming everyone around you and getting paid the same as them? Not here. This is a Results-Only Work Environment: what you earn is tied to what you deliver, not your tenure or your job title, and there’s no cap on it. We hold people to a high bar, and we pay like it.
The Role
You will manage assigned removal defense cases through coordinating with attorneys, directing legal assistants, preparing filings, and preparing hearings.
Cases are assigned to you. You own their progress.
There is:
- No legal advice
- No case strategy
The attorney provides legal advice and sets the case strategy. Your responsibility is to move each case forward accurately and on time, and to prepare the attorney to walk into court ready.
This role requires evening availability (after 5:00 PM ET) at least 2–3 days per week and occasional weekend availability, depending on case needs. The rest of your schedule is up to you.
What You’ll Do
- Draft motions and manage case progress end to end
- Build evidence packets for Master Calendar, Individual, and Bond Hearings — review declarations, complete forms, assemble filings — checking for gaps and alignment with legal strategy so the attorney walks in ready to file and doesn’t need to spend a ton of time editing
- Direct Legal Assistants on document collection, client communication, and next steps
- Maintain complete, accurate records in the CMS after every case activity
- Track time accurately on every case
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of removal defense paralegal experience
- Hands-on experience with preparing cases for Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, and Bond Hearings
- Working knowledge of EOIR portal, ECAS, and immigration court procedures
- Bilingual Spanish–English preferred
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active cases simultaneously
- Comfortable operating under tight, non-negotiable deadlines
Tools
CampLegal — EOIR Portal — ECAS — Google Workspace
This Role Is For Someone Who
- Moves fast without cutting corners
- Takes ownership of a case and sees it through
- Communicates proactively when something is at risk
- Understands that in deportation defense, urgency is not optional
- Wants to do meaningful legal work, not just process paperwork
This Role Is NOT For Someone Who
Do not apply if:
- You need to be reminded to do parts of your job
- You prefer low-stakes, routine work
- You treat documentation as optional
- You are not comfortable being measured on deadlines and accuracy
This is a Results-Only Work Environment. Deadlines, quality, and CMS compliance are tracked weekly.

Why Work Here
- Your work helps keep families together.
- Flexibility in a fully remote environment. You know better than we do where you’re most productive. As long as no one can hear you talk (for confidentiality) and there’s no background noise on client calls, we trust you to manage your time and balance work with the rest of your life.
- Health insurance and gym membership after 3 months
