We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Perl Developer to join our team. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the telemetry team with strong technical ownership. This role is for an experienced engineer who consistently delivers high‑quality systems, influences technical direction, and raises the bar for the team through example. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and eager to learn & mentor in a large, complex environment.

You will be working on an experienced, diverse, and highly effective team building and operating secure, compliant, and efficient hybrid cloud environments to empower hardware engineers to thrive. In collaboration with service owners, the team defines, discovers, tracks, and acts on development environments for our partner, a Fortune 50 company.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. While it is not a formal leadership or management position, senior engineers in this role are expected to demonstrate technical leadership, mentorship, and end‑to‑end ownership of systems in production.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical Ownership and Execution

- Own the design, implementation, and operation of significant telemetry services and
- components.
- Take responsibility for systems from design through production and ongoing support
- Make sound technical decisions that balance:
- Reliability
- Security
- Performance
- Maintainability
- Write high‑quality, well‑tested production code
- Design and evolve scalable, fault‑tolerant, cloud‑native systems
- Contribute meaningfully to architecture and design discussions
- Identify architectural risks and propose pragmatic improvements
- Help ensure systems are production‑ready, observable, and operable at scale

Reliability & Operations

- Treat reliability as a first‑class concern




- Actively contribute to:
- Monitoring and alerting
- Incident response
- Root cause analysis (RCA)
- Ensure strong telemetry and observability
- Help reduce operational toil through automation and better system design.

Technical Leadership

- Lead by example through code quality, ownership, and decision‑making
- Mentor and support other engineers through:
- Code reviews
- Design discussions
- Pairing and informal guidance
- Raise the technical bar by promoting best practices and sound engineering judgment.
- Help teammates succeed without relying on formal authority

Collaboration & Delivery

- Work closely with product, operations, and partner teams
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical solutions
- Identify risks early and proactively surface tradeoffs
- Contribute to planning and execution to ensure predictable, high‑quality delivery

Required Qualifications - basic requirements to be considered

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience or occupational training).
- 8 years of professional experience in software engineering using the Perl language.
- 4 years of experience developing production systems at scale
- English proficiency, both written and verbal. IET/CEFR/Cambridge B2, TOEFL, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications - what we're looking for

- Experience building services on Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of
- Distributed systems
- APIs
- Data pipelines
- Cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to own work end‑to‑end with minimal oversight
- Experience with observability and telemetry platforms (OpenTelemetry, Kusto, Geneva)




- Experience in security‑conscious or compliance‑driven environments
- Background in internal platforms, infrastructure, or developer tooling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Typical base pay for this role across Colombia is 8,000,000 to 10,500,000 COP per month.
