To support this mission, Syngenta's LATAM Engineering Team is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead strategic investment, innovation and transformation initiatives at our Cartagena, Colombia site.
This position will play a key role in delivering high-complexity projects, connecting business needs with efficient, sustainable and operationally viable technical solutions.AccountabilitiesGovernance and ComplianceEnsure strong governance and compliance with corporate policies, internal procedures and applicable legal requirements across engineering, investment and project-execution processes.Ensure appropriate documentation, traceability, approvals and decision controls throughout the project life cycle.Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, risk management and compliance in interactions with internal teams, suppliers and contractors.CAPEX ManagementEnsure investments are efficiently directed toward initiatives with the greatest strategic and financial impact.Ensure adherence to CAPEX governance processes, including scope definition, feasibility assessments, budgeting, approvals,



change control and project close-out.High-Complexity Project LeadershipLead CAPEX projects with investments above USD 3 million.Manage high-complexity HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) and LTO (License to Operate) projects.Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives to accelerate peak sales and align production capabilities with market demand.Efficiency And InnovationMaximise CAPEX efficiency through the identification and implementation of new technologies.Lead project scope and design initiatives, including functional requirements and Macro/Midi design phases.Deliver technical cost savings of 10% to 15% through robust, value-focused technical solutions.Digital TransformationDrive the use of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence in project implementation.Apply BIM (Building Information Modeling) to enable integrated project management, reduce rework and generate cost savings.Implement intelligent P&IDs; and process simulation tools.Organizational DevelopmentLead project-delivery teams, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across engineering, production and suppliers.Identify potential risks and develop proactive mitigation plans to ensure safe, uninterrupted and compliant project execution.Build technical and management capabilities within the team, strengthening execution discipline and operational excellence.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.More than 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years leading engineering, CAPEX, manufacturing or similarly complex initiatives.Advanced English proficiency, essential for interaction with international teams and stakeholders.Experience managing investment projects, scope, budgets, risks,



schedules and multidisciplinary teams.Experience with project governance, compliance, internal controls and contractor management is desirable.Knowledge of, or experience with, project management tools, BIM, digitalisation or engineering technologies.Ability to navigate complexity, demonstrate technical leadership and maintain a strong focus on sustainability and business value creation.Proven ability to lead people and manage stakeholders in operational and matrix environments.Strong communication, influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills.DesiredInternational experience is desirable.PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is desirable.Additional InformationWhat We OfferA culture that celebrates diversity & inclusion, promotes professional development, and strives for a work-life balance that supports the team members.
