Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Go)
Plan A Technologies is seeking a pragmatic, high-level Senior Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team.
You will be instrumental in evolving our platform from legacy infrastructure to a modern, cloud-native ecosystem.
Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with Golang and/or Java to be considered for this role.
Job Responsibilities
Modernize infrastructure: lead migration of manually provisioned AWS resources to Terraform (IaC) and bring out-of-band persistence constructs into managed codebases.
System architecture: design and maintain high-throughput, event-driven systems using Kafka, gRPC, and Thrift API design.
Standardize knowledge: solve documentation fragmentation by establishing a unified, "docs-as-code" standard across repositories and Confluence.
Experience
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional experience as a Senior Backend engineer.




Expert-level proficiency in either Go or Java.
API Design: proven experience with gRPC and Thrift for high-performance service communication.
Previous experience with Postgres.
Nice to have: Kafka.
Strong hands‐on experience with Terraform for infrastructure migration and management.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Excellent organizational, problem‐solving, and analytical abilities.
