AECOM Enterprise Capabilities (EC) is seeking a highly motivated Project Controls Specialist to join our Bogotá, Colombia office.
The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure projects across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific by providing comprehensive project controls services throughout the project lifecycle.
The Project Controls Specialist will work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and Discipline Leads to establish project baselines, monitor cost and schedule performance, forecast project outcomes, and provide timely performance reporting that enables informed decision‐making.
The role requires strong analytical capabilities, financial acumen, and experience with project planning, earned value management, resource planning, and performance measurement.
Responsibilities
Develop proficiency in the use of company cornerstone systems and provide cost data in formats necessary to control the project.
Understand financial terminology and measures and recognize the financial impact of various project actions.
Assist in analyzing and using financial data to identify key project issues.
Use drawings and specifications to establish project baseline data.
Develop knowledge of accounting principles.
Assist in assembling data for trending and forecasting.
Prepare analysis of progress trends and cost impact; may participate in reviewing and approving contractor invoices.
Have knowledge of earned value methodology.
Collect and analyze data on manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations.
Collect and analyze data for tracking actual cost versus funding limitations.
Assist in tracking purchase orders and subcontract commitments and expenditures.
Possess knowledge of scope control and change management.
Assist with the creation of baseline budgets.
Be exposed to scheduling process concepts and principles.
Be exposed to performance management and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles.
Support the project reporting process as required.
Participate in project cost review meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Project Controls, Project Management, Cost Engineering, Planning & Scheduling or Project Financial Management within engineering, consulting or construction projects.
Demonstrated experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Project Controls, Project Management, Cost Engineering, Planning & Scheduling or Project Financial Management within engineering, consulting or construction projects.
Experience supporting international engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of Project Cost Management, Project Scheduling, Resource Planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), Forecasting (ETC/EAC), Budget Control, Financial Performance Analysis, Scope and Change Management, Risk Management.
Experience with enterprise project management systems such as Oracle, SAP, Deltek, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and dashboard development.
Knowledge of project lifecycle management for engineering consulting services.
Experience preparing executive‐level project performance reports and KPI dashboards.
Strong analytical, problem‐solving and decision‐support capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic,
fast‐paced environment.
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
