Purpose
The Caribbean Insurance Technology team's primary role is to maintain and develop Financial Insurance Applications to support businesses across the Caribbean.
We are looking for a passionate and curious Advisory Programmer Analyst to join our General Finance Technology team.
Accountabilities
Must have a good understanding of business systems development and business analysis, with the ability to support key development and back up as business analyst as needed.
Should possess strong analytical, problem‐solving and troubleshooting skills to develop and support systems that meet user requirements.
The incumbent must be creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding and complex environment, and must have a detailed understanding of the application systems they are responsible for.
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to deliver proposals, provide user support and interact with team members and other departments.
Broad understanding and knowledge of banking products, services, market trends, business lending, computer services, planning and control tools and organized structure.
Be guided by bank policy and receive general direction from the Technical Lead, Manager, and Project Manager for the projects assigned.
The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure assigned tasks and project objectives are met.
Work with the agile team to support the Product Owner in refining the product backlog and prioritizing business value, working independently and autonomously within parameters agreed upon by the development team.
Own solutions,
ensure full integration and minimize the impact of technical debt.
When issues arise, problem resolution is first discussed within the team; if required, proper escalation channels will be used.
Play a leadership role within the team, creating a positive work environment through coaching and encouragement in addition to providing technical experience and advice to the rest of the team.
Education / Experience
3–5 years of IT experience, including a minimum of 2 years of advanced technical work experience.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Proficiency with programming languages: C#.
NET, SQL.
API integrations using token authentication.
Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, Crystal Reports, GoAnywhere is an asset.
Insurance and banking reconciliation knowledge is an asset.
Familiarity with AIX shell scripts and job scheduling tools is an asset.
Experience with RDMS such as MS SQL Server, Oracle or DB2.
Understanding of web computing/system design.
Understanding of service‐oriented architecture, cloud computing, microservices.
Knowledge of networking, communications and online processing.
Experience with development techniques such as debugging, testing, coding and use of productivity tools.
Experience managing source repositories (CIAD / Azure Pipeline / Urban Code).
Familiarity with software packages used by the division: Office 365, Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, JIRA, Confluence.
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office‐based environment; non‐standard hours are a common occurrence.
