WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer – Hydro & Dams to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will lead the structural analysis, design, assessment, and rehabilitation of hydroelectric, dam, and water resources infrastructure projects. This role involves providing technical leadership throughout all project phases, from feasibility studies and detailed engineering to construction support, dam safety evaluations, rehabilitation programs, and operational assessments.The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, with significant involvement in hydroelectric facilities, dams, hydraulic structures, water-retaining infrastructure, or major civil engineering projects. Due to the integral nature of the projects and stakeholders, advanced English and French language proficiency is required.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the structural design, analysis, and assessment of dams, spillways, intake structures, powerhouses, penstocks, galleries, retaining structures, and related infrastructure.Perform advanced structural analyses for reinforced concrete, steel, composite, and hydraulic structures.Lead structural condition assessments, rehabilitation studies, and asset management programs for existing hydroelectric and dam facilities.Develop design criteria, engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction documentation.Review and approve structural designs, drawings, reports, and technical deliverables prepared by project teams.Conduct structural evaluations considering static, dynamic, seismic, hydraulic, thermal, and environmental loading conditions.Support dam safety assessments, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance activities.Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, hydrotechnical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and environmental specialists.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.Participate in site inspections, field assessments, construction reviews,



and resolution of structural issues during project execution.Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and construction methodologies.Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, industry regulations, and dam safety requirements.Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and technical proposal preparation.Act as a technical advisor to clients and stakeholders throughout project development and delivery.Maintain effective communication with clients, project teams, contractors, and stakeholders in both English and French.Qualifications and ExperienceEducationBachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field is preferred.Ph.D. in Structural Engineering or related discipline is considered an asset.Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent) designation is preferred.ExperienceMore than 10 years of professional experience in structural engineering.Extensive experience supporting hydroelectric, dam, water resources, or major infrastructure projects.Significant experience in the design, rehabilitation, and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures.Experience with dam engineering projects, hydraulic structures, and power generation facilities is highly desirable.Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating technical project execution.Proven experience supporting projects through feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases.Technical SkillsAdvanced knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.Extensive experience with reinforced concrete, steel,
