Position Summary

This role’s focus is solutions architecture: you win payments business through technical credibility, then own or oversee the execution once that business is won. It is not a hands‑on engineering role, as you won't be writing or reviewing code day to day. But you need enough hands‑on history architecting payment integrations that you can hold your own in a technical conversation with a client's engineering team, and personally step in to own the end to end solution execution as needed. You'll also grow into Monstarlab Americas' go‑to Adyen expert, alongside our existing Stripe and Airwallex depth. You are confident in leveraging AI to optimize and accelerate your own work.

What Success Looks Like

Success is weighted between pipeline and revenue generated for the payments practice, successful delivery of active projects and the health and growth of the practice itself and our PSP partnerships. This role does not carry an individually owned sales quota,



rather you drive and support business development and seek out growth opportunities within existing accounts.

Our payments projects range from facilitating technical workshops to solution planning to leading implementation in collaboration with the client's project team. You’re comfortable flexing based on the needs of our client.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Practice Growth

- Lead client consultations and discovery conversations to understand current challenges and propose opportunities for Monstarlab's value, in partnership with the commercial team.
- Serve as the primary technical voice for the payments practice in client‑facing sales conversations.
- Build and deepen partner relationships with Adyen, Stripe, and Airwallex, working toward formal partner/certification status where available.
- Develop the practice's methodology and thought leadership (whitepapers, ROI frameworks, case studies) to support sales.
- Identify and help staff the right people from Monstarlab's existing delivery pool onto payments engagements — this role does not carry direct headcount.

Solutions Architecture & Advisory

- Translate client business requirements into payment architecture recommendations across Adyen, Stripe, and Airwallex; including integration approach, fund flows, and compliance scope (e.g., PCI-DSS).




- Step in as solutions owner on won engagements. Advise delivery teams on architecture decisions, review technical approaches, lead technical team implementation strategy.
- Track payments industry trends, regulatory change, and PSP roadmap developments, and translate them into guidance for clients and internal teams.
- Represent technical feasibility and risk clearly to both client executives and Monstarlab leadership.
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate architecture work, research, and documentation, applying sound judgment on where AI adds speed and where human review and accountability still matter.

What You Bring

- 8–12 years in payments technology, with real, demonstrable architecture experience across at least one major PSP (Adyen, Stripe, or Airwallex). Adyen experience is strongly preferred as we look to grow our expertise in this practice.
- A track record of client‑facing work in a pre-sales, advisory, or solution‑architecture capacity; you can point to specific deals or engagements you helped move forward.
- Working knowledge of payment compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS and equivalents) and core integration patterns (webhooks, tokenization, reconciliation, fund flows).
- Comfortable owning technical credibility without owning code — this isn't a hands‑on engineering role, but you're not out of your depth in one either.
- EST timezone availability, available for limited travel in the US
