Responsibilities and more:

About the role

Emilia builds computer vision products that run inside restaurants — cameras and edge devices that watch the floor, the kitchen, the bar and the register, and turn what they see into alerts, reports and quality checks for operators.

None of that works unless someone gets it installed correctly, tuned to each specific location, and keeps it running. That is this role.

You are the person who connects remotely into a restaurant, works with the client's IT contact to get our software onto their machines, points the cameras at the right things, dials in the settings until the alerts are accurate for that particular site, and then watches the health dashboard to make sure it stays that way. When a site goes dark, you are the first to know and the first to act.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will not be writing machine learning models — you will be the reason they work in the real world.

Deployment and installation

Coordinate directly with each client's IT contact to schedule installation windows and obtain the access required to install tunnel software and Emilia agents on their machines.

Install and configure Emilia software on client computers and edge devices; validate network connectivity, camera feeds and remote access.

Verify camera placement,

framing and lighting against our installation standards, and flag or correct issues before go-live.

Run the go-live checklist for each new location and confirm the site reaches a healthy state before handing it over.

Keep the deployment tracker current: site status, blockers, dates, owner. Everyone in the company should be able to see where each location stands without asking you.

Configuration and tuning

Calibrate each location's configuration using the parameters we expose — detection zones, confidence thresholds, operating hours, alert sensitivity, notification routing.

Review sample detections and alerts after install, compare against what actually happened on the floor, and adjust settings until precision is acceptable for that site.

Document the final configuration per location so it can be reproduced, audited and rolled back.

Escalate to engineering when a problem is genuinely a model or product issue rather than a configuration issue — and be able to explain why.

Monitoring and support

Monitor service health across all live locations: cameras online, tunnels connected, inference running, alerts delivering.

Respond to automated alerts and client-reported issues within our defined SLA, following the support runbook and escalation tree.

Perform first-line diagnosis and resolution of common failures (offline camera, disconnected tunnel, stopped service, changed network, replaced hardware).

Log every incident with cause and resolution so recurring problems become visible and fixable at the product level.

Client-facing

Be the day-to-day technical contact for restaurant managers and operations teams at your assigned accounts.

Train client staff on how to read the alerts and reports, and on what they need to do on their side to keep the system working.

Communicate clearly and without jargon, in Portuguese or Spanish, with people who are running a busy restaurant and have no interest in technology.

Feed recurring client friction back to product and engineering.

Required

- Technical school degree, technologist degree, or 1–2 years of experience in technical support, IT infrastructure, field service, systems administration, or similar.
- A completed university degree is not required.
- Comfort with Windows and basic Linux: installing software, services, permissions, file systems, command line.
- Working understanding of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, ports, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi versus wired, why a device stops being reachable.
- Persistence and method in chasing people.
- A large part of this job is getting a client's IT provider to actually show up and grant access.
- This requires follow-up, not brilliance.
- Willingness to travel to client locations and to work occasional off-hours install windows (restaurants prefer mornings and closing time).
- Portuguese or Spanish at native level, with functional ability in the other.
- English sufficient to read technical documentation.

Nice to have
- Experience with IP cameras, NVRs, RTSP streams or CCTV systems.
- Familiarity with remote access tooling (Tailscale, ZeroTier, TeamViewer, AnyDesk or similar).
- Basic scripting or SQL — enough to read a log or run a query, not to build software.
- Prior experience working with restaurants, retail chains or any multi-site operation.
- Experience with ticketing and monitoring tools (Jira, Linear, Grafana, Zabbix or similar).

Your potential leader(s):

- Andrés Cajiao - Co-Founder at EmiliaVision.com
- Sebastián Rojo - Co-Founder at Emilia - ex- Open-Source maintainer at @vocodehq, Open-Source Machine Learning Engineer • Senior Kubernetes Engineer
