Technical Sales Support Specialist
Location
Central America or Colombia
The LYCRA Company, widely known for producing LYCRA® fiber, is looking for someone to join our Technical and Sales Support Team. This role will be based in Central America or Colombia. This team is tasked with supporting our upstream apparel customers (knitting and weaving mills) and our downstream customers (leading brands and retailers) with new product innovations and technical product support. This role is also expected to play a central role in the identification of unmet customer needs and market trends, and to translate those into new products in the apparel market space.
To be successful in this challenging multi-functional role, an individual must possess a combination of skills in the focus areas of textile technology, economic thinking, and the ability to build and maintain relationships in the apparel value chain. We are looking for someone who is a strong team player, demonstrates initiative, is a creative problem solver, and understands the essential requirement to conduct all affairs in a lawful and compliant manner.
Duties of the Role
- Build and maintain a strong technical knowledge of textile fiber technology and the processing of knitted and woven fabrics (fabric making, dye and finishing, and quality testing) that contain elastane, polyester, nylon 6/66, cotton, and combinations thereof.
- Develop a deep understanding of the product range of The Lycra Company and be able to effectively communicate the benefits of those products vs. competitive products on the market.
- Be accountable for providing support to new and existing customers by applying product and application knowledge to address technical issues and support product qualification efforts at leading apparel brands and retailers.
- Ability to investigate, analyze, and provide reporting of test data, including database entry of results.
- Experience in effective communication to a broad range of audiences from manufacturing personnel, sales/marketing individuals, and senior leadership.
- Work collaboratively on developments with the product teams at our manufacturing plants around the world.
- Collaborate with a integral network of technical professionals to maximize the value of new innovations through the open exchange of ideas and knowledge with colleagues in the Americas, Europe, and throughout Asia
- Support multi textile segments to grow and develop new businesses opportunities in Americas.
- Support / lead new market development initiatives and product introductions.
- Support the Commercial Team in relation to business plan execution.
Skills and Education Required
- Minimum required Education is a university 2-year degree, associate’s degree, or trade school diploma. Preferred education is at B.S. Degree. Individuals with an advanced degree (M.S, Ph.D.) will be considered.
- Computer skills must include competency with MS Office tools such as Excel and Word.
- Must be authorized to work in Central America or Colombia without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- At least 10 years’ experience working in the textile industry
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for customer and production site visits.
- Preferred candidates will have experience working with circular and/or warp knit applications.
- Strong knowledge of Textile processing fabrication through dyeing and finishing to include stretch fabric/ garment blends.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial behaviors in previous roles, with experience of uncovering unmet customer needs and developing programs to address these.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling value propositions for customers, differentiating their products through the application of The LYCRA Company products.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills coupled with the ability to influence others.
- Behavior driven by integrity, humility and ethics.
- English & Other Language: Proficiency in written and spoken communication.
