Verification & Validation Engineer - Energy Systems
Overview
The Verification & Validation Engineer ensures that every hardware and firmware release in our energy systems — including cabinets, battery modules, and controllers — meets design intent, regulatory requirements, and operational reliability before deployment. This role bridges engineering design, quality assurance, and field performance by planning, executing, and documenting systematic test campaigns across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain V&V; test plans, procedures, and traceability matrices aligned with design and functional requirements.
- Participate in design and risk‑review sessions to define acceptance criteria and test coverage.
- Assemble and configure hardware test setups (cabinets, batteries, sensors, controllers).
- Execute functional, communication, and performance tests across subsystems.
- Validate firmware versions, communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, Ethernet, SNMP), and system interlocks.
- Reproduce field conditions in the lab to validate real‑world behavior.
- Support commissioning and field test campaigns for new product releases.
- Capture and analyze test data to confirm system performance under various environmental and electrical conditions.
- Maintain detailed test logs,
results, and incident reports in Confluence / Jira.
- Generate V&V; reports summarizing test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Contribute to release notes.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, and production teams to close verification findings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in hardware or embedded‑system testing.
- US VISA.
- Willing to relocate to Panama City.
- Hands‑on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, analyzers, and communication interfaces (RS‑485, CAN, Ethernet).
- Solid understanding of test documentation, requirement traceability, and issue tracking tools.
- Familiarity with Python, Bash, or other scripting for test automation.
- English: advanced.
- Spanish: fluent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with energy storage, microgrid, or solar control systems.
- Familiarity with hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) or simulation testing environments.
- Experience using Git / Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines for firmware validation.
