Role: Senior Accountant

About the Role: The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing a portfolio of client accounts while serving as the primary accounting advisor for assigned clients. This role owns the full accounting cycle—from reviewing transactions and reconciling accounts to preparing financial statements and advising clients—ensuring work is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP. The adecuado candidate is comfortable working independently in a remote, multi-client environment, collaborating with offshore team members, maintaining strong client relationships, and proactively managing priorities, budgets, and workflow deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of client accounts and serve as the primary accounting contact
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsive service
- Analyze financial information and recommend solutions to accounting issues
- Support clients in improving financial reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
Accounting Operations & Month-End Close
- Own the monthly close process for assigned clients
- Review transactions, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and prepare journal entries
- Produce accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Investigate variances, unusual transactions, and reporting discrepancies
- Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time
Workflow & Team Collaboration
- Maintain daily communication with internal teams through Slack and other collaboration tools
- Monitor weekly accounting workflows, vendor requests, and client communications
- Coordinate work with offshore accounting team members while maintaining accountability for final deliverables
- Escalate issues, missing information, or scope concerns proactively
Client Advisory & Compliance
- Review financial statements with clients during virtual meetings
- Coordinate with client CPAs and internal teams on accounting matters
- Prepare or review sales tax filings and year-end 1099s, as applicable
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Process Improvement & Technology
- Maintain organized workpapers and follow standardized accounting processes
- Support process improvements, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives
- Utilize cloud-based accounting tools and AI-enabled technologies to improve efficiency
Qualifications & Skills
Hard Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- CPA designation, CPA-track, or QuickBooks Online Certification is a plus
- Minimum 5 years of public accounting, outsourced accounting, or accounting firm experience
- Minimum 5 years of QuickBooks Online experience
- Experience managing multiple client accounts in a remote or cloud-based environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and month-end close
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, Slack, ShareFile, and other cloud-based accounting tools
Nice to Have
