Position Summary:

The Sr Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) is a member of a field-based team of scientists who function as an extension of the Medical Affairs organization. MSLsare responsible fordeveloping and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders involved in various phases of product development as well as key medical organizations including treatment centers of excellence and established societies and associations.

MSLs provide medical information through scientific exchange in a fair-balanced manner and provide clinical/scientific support to the company.

The Sr MSL willhelp tointegrate the efforts of the Medical Affairs Department with R&D;, Clinical Affairs and Scientific Affairs and with other internal teams to ensure effectiveselectionand execution of investigator-initiated clinical trials.

The incumbent will also provide clinical and educational support to managed care organizations, as well asidentifyinfluential senior clinicians on the national and regional level





This is a field-based position and requires professionals with established personal and scientific creditability to interact with thought leaders and centers of excellence. This Sr MSL position will supportcompany’sproducts in development and brands as their primary responsibility.

Work Model:

Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.

Responsibilities:

- Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), andestablishand maintain scientific relationships with KOLs; connecting to KOLs in academic and community centers
- Act as primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and performing investigator-initiated research
- Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with country-level plans
- Provide clinical presentations and medical information in response to unsolicited questions (asappropriate)in academic, community, and healthcare provider settings.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Operations organization to enhance patient enrolment in company-sponsored clinical trials by identifyingappropriate clinicaltrial sites and interacting with investigators in ongoing studies
- Provide scientific support at medical congressesand educational initiatives
- Providetimelymedical insights/information on emerging clinical/scientific teams and opportunities to internal stakeholders
- Ensure all activities are compliant with company policies and SOPs.
- Serve as mentor and train new team members
- Seek out opportunities to support the MSL value proposition, achieveresultsand set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating Ultragenyx cultural attributes and core competencies.

Requirements:

- Advanced degree in clinical specialty (MD, PhD, PharmD) and 2+ years of MSL experiencestronglypreferred. If non-doctoral degree, at least3years ofpreviousMSL and relevant disease state clinical experiencerequired
- Rare disease experience preferred,



particularly in metabolic bone and/or metabolic genetic diseases
- Excellent teamwork and communication skillsrequired(fluent Spanish and English)
- Demonstrated experience effectively presenting clinical/scientific informationrequired
- Expert understanding of the local health care delivery system and its impact on patient care and regional medical care
