Dear sharp marketer,

If you've spent the last few weeks scrolling through an endless feed of soul-crushing job posts...

Nearly nodding off at the hundredth "We're seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented professional to join our dynamic, fast-paced team... blah blah blah"...

And what you're actually after is the chance to work shoulder to shoulder with a performance marketer who's moved real money, on ads that don't look like ads...

Then this is the most important job post you'll read this year.

Here's why.

I run Skyline Media, and I'm hiring one person to run operations alongside me. Not just anyone, no.

I want the kind of operator who makes a fast-moving agency feel calm. Someone who can keep five clients, three outside vendors and a full film crew all moving at once without a single ball touching the floor. Someone who can open a Meta ad account and know inside a minute whether the numbers are real or whether a partner is blowing smoke.

Someone who's just as at home digging through customer reviews and competitor ads for the raw material behind a campaign as they are keeping the trains running.

If that's starting to sound like you, keep reading.

Now, a little about us

Skyline Media is a boutique performance marketing agency. We run growth for high ticket brands: paid media across Google, Meta and Amazon, plus email, SEO, and the creative that feeds all of it. Where most agencies stop at managing ad accounts, we build the ads too. Documentary style video that looks like real life instead of advertising, engineered inside a direct response framework so it doesn't just get watched, it sells.

It works. We've generated more than $149M in revenue for the brands we work with, across thousands of campaigns, at a 95% client retention rate.

We're small. We're senior. We move fast and the bar is high. No bloat, no dead weight, nobody coasting.

But enough about us. What about you?

In my experience, a handful of very different people apply for a role like this.

There's the one who looks perfect on paper and then freezes the second something goes sideways.

There's the one who can follow instructions all day but can't make a single decision without you holding their hand.

There's the order-taker who does exactly what's asked and not one inch more.

There's the one who loves to talk about "strategy" but has never actually been inside an ad account in their life.

And then, rarely, there's the operator who quietly runs everything. Who thinks two steps ahead of you. Who makes your whole business run smoother from the day they walk in.

I'm hiring that last one. If that's you, we should talk.

But before you get too excited,

let me stop you

This role is not easy.

We're a small team moving quickly and I expect a lot. The standards are high and there is nowhere to hide. If you need someone hovering over your shoulder feeding you tasks all day, you'll be miserable here, and you should close this tab now.

This is not an entry level job either. You've done real marketing work before, ideally a couple of years of it, and you can point to exactly what you did and what came of it.

And let me be blunt about one thing. This is your job. Your only job. Not one of three you're quietly juggling. I run live all day, and I need you right there with me during Pacific business hours, reachable on Slack and ready to jump on a call the moment I need you, not only at some meeting we booked a week in advance. If you're planning to stack this on top of another full time role, we are not a fit, and it will fall apart fast. Please don't apply.

Still reading? Good.

Maybe you've been stuck as a task-taker at an agency that never taught you a thing. Maybe you've been freelancing on your own, stitching together clients, with nobody to learn from and nowhere to grow. If you're done being underused and you actually want to level up, this is the room to do it in.

You'd be coming in early, while this is still being built. That means you're not a cog in someone else's machine, and you'll get room to grow that a big agency would never hand you. You'll learn more here in a year than in five years anywhere else. I run performance marketing for real brands and I'll teach you how it actually works. And when someone's good, I keep them. I don't churn through hires. I invest in the people who prove it and I give them a long runway.

What you'd actually be doing

On the client side, I run marketing for a growing ecommerce brand with a web of outside partners: paid media, email, SEO, video. You keep all of them moving. No vendor is ever left waiting on a reply. You review what they send before it reaches me, sit in on the calls, capture the action items, and chase them until they're done. On the days I can't make a meeting, you cover it and hold your own in the room.

On the production side, we shoot dozens of ads on location for a brand in a single go. You keep that whole machine organized behind the scenes. You coordinate the editor through revisions, keep the tracking sheets spotless, post roles on Breezy when we're staffing a shoot, and make sure the talent, the cinematographer and the editor all know where to be and what's due.

On the creative side, I write the scripts and direct the shoots. You feed that engine. Mining reviews and competitor ads for angles, organizing the research, turning my direction into clean briefs the editors can actually run with, and keeping the creative pipeline moving. You won't be writing the scripts, that part is mine to own, but you'll understand the craft well enough to make the machine around it hum.

And underneath all of it, project management. Multiple clients, multiple workstreams, all at once. You keep every project visible, ranked by what matters most to the business, and dead on track. When I ask where something stands, you already have the answer.

Who you are

You don't wait to be told. You spot the thing that needs doing and it's handled. You make the call and tell me after. You bring me only what truly needs me.

You're organized to a fault. Mess bothers you and you can't rest until it's fixed.

You actually understand paid media. Meta, Google, Bing, with a real grip on SEO and email. You've lived inside the accounts, not just read about them.

You're curious about why ads work, not just what looks pretty. You can go down into the unglamorous research, reviews, competitor ads, the exact words real customers use, and come back with something we can actually use. Direct-response instincts, not just good taste.

Your English is fluent, spoken and written. You can write a clean, clear email and hold your own on a call with an outside partner, with me nowhere in the room.

You use AI tools every day and lean on them hard. Drafting vendor emails, summarizing calls, digging through research, cleaning up spreadsheets. If you've figured out how to make AI carry the grunt work so you can move three times faster, that's exactly the edge I'm looking for.

And you bring good energy. I want someone glad to be here, not someone I have to drag along.

If you've worked inside an agency before, that's a real plus.

Will it be boring? Not a chance.

One day you're chasing an editor to hit a cut deadline. The next you're on a call pressing a paid media partner to explain why their ROAS slipped three weeks running. The day after you're mapping out a shoot with thirty ads to keep track of. It never stops moving, and you'll be learning the whole way through.

Here's what to do next

I read every application myself, so make it count.

Send me your resume and a short cover note that tells me who you actually are and why this role fits you. And please, not the wishy-washy kind. Not "I am a passionate, results-driven professional with a strong work ethic and a love for learning." That tells me nothing and it goes straight in the bin.

I want the real thing. The specifics. Exactly why you'd be great at this. If you can't take fifteen minutes to write that, don't apply, because I'll know.

Then answer these

What do you go down rabbit holes on in your own time? The ads you can't stop analyzing, the brands you study, the newsletters or channels you actually read for fun. I want to see what grabs you when it isn't your job to care.

Walk me through the top 3 projects you've run. What were they, what was your role, and what actually happened because you were the one running them? Give me numbers where you have them.

How do you run project management day to day? When you've got several clients and everything feels urgent at once, how do you decide what gets done first?

What's your real understanding of Meta and Google Ads? Show me you've been in the accounts. Tell me about a time you looked at the numbers and knew something was off, and what you did about it.

Which AI tools do you use, and what for? Be specific. I want to see how you actually put them to work day to day, not a list of names you've heard of.

That's it.

P.S.

If you got to the bottom of this and something in your gut said "this is me," send it now. I'm interviewing as applications come in and I move fast. A role like this at a growing agency does not sit open for long. Someone sharp is going to read this and grab it before you do.

Maybe it's a fit and maybe it isn't. But maybe, just maybe, this turns out to be the best job you've ever had.
