Web Developer
1. Why this role exists
We build and run the websites for our dealers — the businesses we represent across the US — and we build them a new way: fast, modern, and easy to change with AI, not stuck in WordPress or Joomla. We're BMCIS, an AI-first company, and we're hiring a Web Developer to build these dealer sites end to end and keep them easy to update as needs change. Success in 6–12 months looks like: dealer sites you've built are live and yours end to end, they load fast and rank well, and when a dealer needs a change it ships in hours — with AI doing the heavy lifting —
instead of waiting days on an agency.
This is a role for someone who is genuinely excited about where web development is going with AI.
We don't want someone who fights the tools — we want someone who reaches for them first and ships more because of it. If that's you, this is a place to go deep on it every day.
And it's more than a paycheck. You'll work with a real team, travel to the US now and then for team and industry events, and grow as we grow — we invest in the people who build with us.
2. A realistic week in this role
You build dealer websites from design to live — on a modern stack: Astro on the front end, a Supabase backend, deployed on Vercel and Cloudflare. You lean on AI tools (Cursor,
Claude, and the like) to build and change pages fast, and you set the sites up to be AI-ready —
clean structure, `llms.txt` and the like — so future edits are quick, not painful. You do the backend-connection work (Supabase, APIs, integrations), help build the AI pieces we're putting into these sites, wire up forms and analytics, and pitch in on marketing-side needs when they come up.
You fix the bugs real traffic surfaces and partner with our marketing/production lead on what to build next.
Some weeks are new builds from a blank page; some are less glamorous — performance tuning, small fixes, keeping live sites healthy. Because these are dealer sites, you'll often build several similar sites well and quickly, not one site forever.
3. Must-haves
- You've personally built and shipped live, public websites — and can share the URLs so we
can look at them.
- Real hands-on experience building with AI tools (Cursor, Claude, v0, Bolt, or similar) —
and you can show us how you use them. This is the heart of the role, so some real AI experience is required, not optional.
- A college degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field
(or the local equivalent in Colombia or Costa Rica).
- Working command of a modern web stack and a deploy platform (Astro or React + Vercel /
Supabase / Cloudflare, or a close equivalent) — and you're eager to go all-in on ours.
- Functional professional English (about B1–B2) — good enough to work with the team and
talk with dealers a few times a year. You'll work closely with a bilingual (EN/ES) lead, so it needs to be solid and clear, not perfect.
4. Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on with our exact stack — Astro, Supabase, Vercel, and Cloudflare.
- Can point to a real result you moved — faster load time, better SEO, more sign-ups, better
uptime — not just a list of features.
- Building AI-ready sites (`llms.txt`, structured content) and wiring AI features into a site.
- SEO and page-speed tuning (Core Web Vitals), accessibility, or headless-CMS experience.
- Backend and integration work — APIs, webhooks, serverless functions.
- Comfortable building many similar sites from templates and systems, not just one-offs.
5. What you'll be measured on
Live, working dealer sites you've shipped; how fast and reliably you can update them with AI; page load and Core Web Vitals; and how little the team has to wait on you to get a change out.
6. Logistics
- Location eligibility: Colombia / Costa Rica · Remote: 100% remote within CO/CR
- Working hours: Aligned to U.S. Central Time (Houston business hours), with reasonable
flexibility your team sets.
- Work authorization: You must already hold a valid B1/B2 visa (for periodic US trips to
team and industry events). This is required for this role.
- Engagement: Independent contractor · Commitment: Full-time, 40 hrs/week
- Compensation: Competitive USD pay, paid twice-monthly — we'll talk specifics in our first
conversation.
- Working language: Functional professional English (about B1–B2) — enough to work with the
team and dealers. You'll partner with a bilingual EN/ES lead. Bilingual EN/ES a plus.
7. How we evaluate
We read your résumé and your shipped work against a written standard, then a first interview, a short build task, and a final interview. We'll tell you where you stand at each step.
8. How to apply
Apply through our form. You'll add your résumé, a GitHub link, live URLs for sites you've built, and your visa status. Share only work you're comfortable having us look at.
