Junior Controller (Accounting & Tax)

We're partnering with a growing US-based company looking to hire an Accountant/Junior Controller to join their accounting team in Colombia. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid accounting fundamentals and hands-on knowledge of Colombian tax compliance who wants to grow into a leadership role, working closely with international stakeholders.

This is a permanent opportunity with high visibility, reporting directly to leadership and helping scale the company's finance operations.

Responsibilities

- Support day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Handle corporate tax compliance and statutory reporting (IVA, retención, renta)
- Coordinate monthly tax filings and ensure compliance with Colombian regulations
- Support relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors
- Help maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Collaborate with US leadership,



providing updates and recommendations in English
- Support the implementation of accounting systems and procedures
- Opportunity to grow into a supervisory role as the accounting team scales

Requirements

- 2-5 years of experience in Accounting or Tax roles in Colombia
- Solid knowledge of Colombian corporate accounting and tax regulations (IVA, retención en la fuente, renta, nómina)
- Hands-on experience with at least two of: month-end/year-end close, general ledger, financial statements, corporate tax filings
- Advanced English (written and spoken) to communicate directly with US stakeholders
- Degree in Accounting (Contador Público or in process of certification)

Nice to Have

- Prior experience as a Controller, Team Lead, or similar
- Experience with accounting ERPs such as ContaPyme, Siigo, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar
- Experience working with international companies or US-based organizations
