This position is best suited for a Legal Assistant rather than a Paralegal or Attorney, as the work focuses on settlement coordination and execution rather than legal research or litigation.
You must have experience in negotiating and settling liens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate settlement files from preparation through completion
- Communicate with medical providers regarding liens and balances
- Negotiate routine medical liens following established firm procedures
- Track settlement payments, lien reductions, and disbursement information
- Prepare settlement documents and maintain accurate case records
- Follow up with providers, clients, and team members to keep cases on track
- Review invoices, payment requests, and settlement figures for accuracy
- Update case management systems and ensure documentation is complete
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and paralegals throughout the settlement process
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Settlement Coordinator, or Case Assistant in a law firm
- Negotiating and settling liens (most important)
