The News-Gazette, an award-winning, medium-sized daily in a Big Ten town, is looking for one versatile, ambitious reporter to join a newsroom that's been named best in its class by the Illinois Press Association nine of the last 10 years.
While this is a general assignment beat, there will be an emphasis on criminal justice. The chosen applicant will have an opportunity to help us reimagine the way the police/courts beat is covered — both in print and online — as we’ve already done in many other corners of the newsroom.
Experienced candidates are welcome, as are fresh-out-of-school journalism grads; we have a mix of both in our vibrant, multi-media shop that includes three in-house radio stations.
