Engineering & Architectural Drafter — St. Petersburg, Florida

HB Design and Engineering (HBDE), an architecture and engineering firm serving all 67 counties in Florida, is looking for a highly skilled and talented Engineering & Architectural Drafter to join our team.

About the role:
This position is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed drawings and technical documentation that translate engineering calculations and design intent into well-organized, code-compliant, and buildable plans. The drafter ensures seamless coordination between architectural plans and all engineering disciplines, maintaining consistency, quality, and efficiency throughout every project phase.

Key responsibilities:

Develop detailed architectural and engineering drawings — plans, elevations, sections, and details — across structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
Convert engineer markups, hand sketches, and redlines into precise digital drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM software




Coordinate drawings across disciplines to ensure compatibility and resolve design conflicts
Ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code (FBC), ASCE 7, NFPA, NEC, and other applicable standards
Maintain proper file organization and BIM model standards (worksets, families, visibility settings)
Support multiple projects simultaneously, from design development through construction administration

Required profile:

Civil engineer preferred (no degree strictly required, but strong, proven technical drafting skills are essential)
Significant hands-on experience producing drawings across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
Knowledge of MEP systems required
Revit proficiency required, minimum LOD 300
Experience with residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects (Florida experience preferred)
Strong spatial comprehension and dimensional accuracy
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required); experience with Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Micro
