Structural Engineer – Hydro & Dams

Position Summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer – Hydro & Dams to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will lead the structural analysis, design, assessment, and rehabilitation of hydroelectric, dam, and water resources infrastructure projects. This role involves providing technical leadership throughout all project phases, from feasibility studies and detailed engineering to construction support, dam safety evaluations, rehabilitation programs, and operational assessments.
The adecuado candidate will have more than 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, with significant involvement in hydroelectric facilities, dams, hydraulic structures, water-retaining infrastructure, or major civil engineering projects. Due to the global nature of the projects and stakeholders, advanced English and French language proficiency is required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the structural design, analysis, and assessment of dams, spillways, intake structures, powerhouses, penstocks, galleries, retaining structures,



and related infrastructure.
Perform advanced structural analyses for reinforced concrete, steel, composite, and hydraulic structures.
Lead structural condition assessments, rehabilitation studies, and asset management programs for existing hydroelectric and dam facilities.
Develop design criteria, engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
Review and approve structural designs, drawings, reports, and technical deliverables prepared by project teams.
Conduct structural evaluations considering static, dynamic, seismic, hydraulic, thermal, and environmental loading conditions.
Support dam safety assessments, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance activities.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, hydrotechnical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and environmental specialists.
