About the Role

Calidad is hiring a hands-on Controller to own our accounting function end to end. This is a senior, high-trust position for someone who can both do the work and stand behind the numbers—actively running day-to-day AP and payroll while also delivering accurate financials, closing the books, and giving leadership a clear picture of the business. You'll operate independently in a remote environment, so ownership, reliability, and strong communication matter as much as technical skill.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
- Produce accurate, timely financial statements (P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Reconcile all accounts; maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Provide management reporting, budget vs. vigente analysis, and cash-flow visibility

Accounts Payable
- Manage the full AP cycle: bill entry, coding, approval routing,



and payment runs
- Maintain vendor records, resolve discrepancies, and manage 1099 tracking/filing
- Monitor AP aging and cash requirements

Payroll
- Run full-cycle payroll independently and on schedule (hourly and salaried, including off-cycle runs, bonuses, and adjustments)
- Manage employee setup, pay rates, deductions, benefits withholdings, and PTO accruals
- Calculate and remit payroll taxes; handle filings and year-end forms (W-2s, 1099s)
- Reconcile payroll to the general ledger every period
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Serve as the point of contact for payroll questions and issue resolution

Systems & Controls
- Serve as the QuickBooks (Online/Desktop) administrator and power user, including QuickBooks Payroll
- Establish and enforce internal controls and clean accounting workflows
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation
