Night Operations CoordinatorPosition Summary
Smart Shore Group supports a leading U.S. transportation company operating a modern, clean-energy fleet and moving dry van freight for national shippers. The client’s office closes at 5:00 pm, but their trucks keep running all night.
This role is the
night desk
. You are the voice our drivers hear at 2:00 am. You are the person a customer reaches when a delivery is going to be late. You are the one who catches a problem at midnight so it is already handled by the time the day team walks in.
This is
not a load planning seat
. You are not booking freight and you are not reassigning loads on your own. The plan is already built when your shift starts. Your job is to keep the drivers on that plan, keep them safe, keep customers informed,
and get the right manager involved when something needs a decision.
What You Will OwnBe there for the drivers
● Stay in contact with every driver running overnight. Regular check-ins throughout the shift, not just when something goes wrong.
● Talk with drivers on the road. Long night runs are isolating, and a real conversation keeps a driver alert and connected to the company.
● Watch for signs of fatigue. If a driver sounds impaired, drowsy, or off, tell them to shut down and find a safe place to park. Safety comes before the appointment, every time. No delivery is worth a tired driver staying behind the wheel.
● Answer the after-hours line. Every call should be answered or returned within 10 minutes.
● Help drivers with directions, gate and receiver instructions, appointment times, fuel and CNG station questions, and hours of service questions.
Keep customers informed
● Give overnight status updates to customers who call
