Job Summary
The Software Asset Management (SAM) Senior Associate supports the IT Operations Asset Management sub‑domain by executing day‑to‑day SAM processes that ensure software is properly governed across the full lifecycle—from request and procurement through deployment, compliance, optimization, and retirement. This role partners with IT teams, Procurement, Finance, Security, and vendors to maintain accurate software entitlement and usage records, support audits, reduce risk, and drive cost optimization through effective license management and reporting.
Responsibilities
· Maintain accurate software asset records, entitlements, and licensing documentation across major publishers and platforms
· Reconcile software usage/installation data against entitlements to identify compliance gaps, over‑deployment, and under‑utilization
· Support software request fulfillment and renewals by validating licensing requirements, available entitlements, and deployment constraints
· Execute periodic compliance checks and produce audit‑ready evidence packages (contracts, proofs of entitlement,
deployments, usage)
· Support internal and external software audits (publisher audits / true‑ups) by coordinating data collection, responses, and remediation activities
· Identify optimization opportunities (re-harvesting, right‑sizing, shelfware reduction) and track realized savings/avoidance
· Partner with Procurement and Finance on purchase orders, renewals calendars, maintenance/support tracking, and license forecasting
· Collaborate with End User Services and platform teams to ensure software deployments align to approved standards and licensing rights
· Maintain SAM reporting and dashboards (compliance posture, spend trends, renewal pipeline, optimization pipeline)
· Document and follow standard operating procedures and controls for SAM processes within IT Operations Asset Management
