The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions. If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future.
As the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela continues, the risk of hyperinflation and mobility restrictions severely limit access to basic goods and services. To date, around 8 million Venezuelans have left the country. The IRC has responded to the crisis by supporting Venezuelans within Colombia, providing health,
nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), economic recovery, protection, and education services. At the same time, escalating violence and armed conflict have generated serious protection risks in Colombia and Ecuador. This escalation of violence adds to the existing pressures in both countries, which host 2.8 million and 441,000 Venezuelan migrants, respectively. Across the region, escalating violence and conflict are now generating new waves of internal displacement or confinement, directly disrupting access to services, deteriorating health and protection systems, and widening gaps in the provision of care. In this context, the IRC works, together with local organizations, to support communities affected by conflict in both Colombia and Ecuador in accessing basic goods and services, including education, health, and protection.
