About this position

This is a locally engaged position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.

The Consular and Passports Manager coordinates the provision of high-level consular, passports and notarial services for Australian citizens in Colombia and Venezuela. The position proactively develops and maintains a wide range of contacts in government organisations, other foreign missions and within the private sector including hospitals, funeral directors, airlines and the tourism industry, to support the provision of comprehensive consular services. In addition, the Consular and Passports Manager oversees crisis and contingency planning and undertakes financial functions when required. As part of a small team, the officer operates independently and must be able to travel outside of the Bogota area at short notice.

This position requires a probity check to be completed. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT probity check.



Probity checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a probity check. The inability to obtain a probity check prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a probity check at any time will lead to termination of employment.
