About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer to work on core platform infrastructure and APIs for one of our U.S.-based fintech clients. You’ll take ownership of backend systems — from API design and database architecture to deployment and monitoring — in a lean, fast-moving environment where async collaboration and initiative are essential.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs
- Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
- Optimize database performance and data integrity
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Mentor other developers and support team growth

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional backend development experience
- Strong experience with Laravel (PHP) and Python
- RESTful API design and development
- Database management (MySQL / PostgreSQL)




- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
- Excellent English communication skills (B2 or above)

Nice to have

- Experience in fintech, BNPL, or payments infrastructure
- Background at LatAm fintechs such as Addi, Nubank, Mercado Pago, Kueski, Creditas, RappiPay, or Global66
- Experience leading a team
- AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3 — any combination)
- DevOps mindset — infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, monitoring
- Familiarity with fraud detection logic or financial data systems
- Experience with Stripe
- Exposure to Java
- Spanish language skills
