We are a marine design and engineering consultancy, and currently looking for a senior naval architect who can own a design from the owner's brief all the way through to production files and post-design support.
SCOPE
Across projects, you would be responsible for:
- Requirements definition, mission profile, and concept development
- Preliminary sizing, parametric studies, and hull form development
- Lines plan, hydrostatics, intact and damage stability to the applicable criteria
- Resistance and powering prediction, propulsion and propeller selection
- Weight estimate, CG control, and loading conditions
- General Arrangement development
- Structural design and scantlings to class rules or ISO 12215, with FEA where required
- Systems layout — propulsion, steering, piping, tanks, electrical
- Production and construction drawings, shell expansion, plate development, cutting files
- Class and flag submission packages, and responding to class comments
- Post-design support — builder RFIs, yard queries, inclining, trials, as-built updates
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE
Please do not send a folder of renders. For ONE project you took from brief to production, show the chain:
- Hull model or lines plan
- A hydrostatics and stability report you produced
- The GA
- Structural drawings and the scantling basis
- Production or fabrication output
Redacted or watermarked material is fine. Please mention clearly which parts were your own work and which were done by others.
REQUIREMENTS
- Considerable experience in vessel design, with full-cycle project ownership
- Working knowledge of at least one classification society's rules and the submission process
- Fluent in the standard toolset (Rhino, Maxsurf, GHS, DELFTship, NAPA, AutoCAD, or equivalents — tell us which)
- Clear written English and disciplined documentation
HOW TO APPLY
Answer these four in your proposal:
- Describe one vessel you took from brief to production files. Vessel type, length, material, rule set, and exactly what you personally did.
- Which software do you use for hull, stability, structure, and production output?
- Which class or flag rules have you worked to? Have you personally responded to class comments?
- Your hourly rate, weekly availability, and time zone.
Send your proposals at email:
[email protected]
We are building a long-term working relationship, not filling a one-off gap. We will start with one or two paid, defined tasks so both sides can assess fit, then move to a steady flow of work.
Proposals that skip the four questions below won't be reviewed.
