Job Title: Python Developer (Azure Integration)
Location: Colombia
Work Mode: 100% Remote
Employment Type: Contractor (hourly pay, no benefits; candidate responsible for own taxes)
Contract Duration: 3 Months (with possibility of extension)
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
About the Role The Near Real Time Integration team builds and runs services that connect restaurant systems to the rest of the business, including store back-of-house data flowing to JD Edwards and Oracle HCM, ServiceNow-driven vendor dispatch, partner data exchanges, and a master-ID service that supports every new store, site, and project.
The team is currently moving this integration estate from MuleSoft to Azure, using Python Azure Functions running on AKS behind API Management, with Service Bus, Key Vault, and SQL Server. We are looking for a Python developer to help complete this work.
You will join a small team that ships through merge requests, deploys through GitLab CI, and treats testing and documentation as part of the development process. Depending on the assignment, you will either extend the Central Data Exchange service with a new store-numbering capability and take it live, or take ownership of individual MuleSoft integrations and rebuild them on the Azure platform through cutover.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong Python development experience, including RESTful API development and integration services.
- Experience developing and supporting serverless applications using Azure Functions (Python).
- Experience with core Azure services such as Service Bus, Azure Storage, Key Vault, and Entra ID.
- Experience working with relational databases from Python.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Ability to read and understand existing integration code in order to modify or re-implement its behavior.
- Understanding of cloud security, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQL Server and SQLAlchemy or pyodbc.
- Experience with Azure API Management and Application Insights.
- Exposure to Kubernetes platforms such as AKS.
- Experience with GitLab CI and pytest.
- MuleSoft 4 experience, including DataWeave, RAML, and flows, or experience migrating integrations between platforms.
- Exposure to ERP and HCM integrations, including JD Edwards and Oracle Fusion HCM, and enterprise messaging patterns.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Python Azure Functions that expose REST endpoints and process Service Bus messages, following the patterns already established in the codebase.
- Add new capabilities to existing services, including new SQL Server tables and endpoints, ID-allocation logic that remains correct under concurrent callers, and configuration and secrets through Key Vault.
- Read existing MuleSoft integrations, understand their data mappings, lookup tables, business rules, and scheduling, and re-implement that behavior in Python so downstream consumers see no difference.
- Write unit and integration tests, keep repository documentation current, and produce the runbook for what you build.
- Run new services in parallel with their legacy equivalents, cut consumers over, and retire the old integration cleanly.
- Work directly with the DBA, platform, and project teams to sequence table changes, API registration, and go-lives.
