Purpose
In this role, the individual leads and strengthens the Internal Fraud Detection and Employee Monitoring capability for International Banking (IB), with an initial focus on supporting the implementation of the internal fraud solution across IB markets.
Once the solution has been implemented, the role will be responsible for continuously assessing whether the tools, monitoring rules, controls, and processes remain effective and fit for purpose. When required, the individual will propose adjustments or enhancements based on the evolution of internal fraud trends, changes in observed behaviors, emerging vulnerabilities, operational needs, and regulatory expectations.
The role ensures the team has the procedures, data, technology, monitoring rules, controls, and stakeholder coordination required to effectively detect potential internal fraud activity. It also drives standardization, process documentation, and continuous improvement, while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, integrity, privacy, and alignment with Scotiabank’s values, risk appetite,
regulatory expectations, and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution and continuous enhancement of the internal fraud detection and employee monitoring program for International Banking, focused on identifying potential unauthorized financial and non-financial activities performed by employees or insiders.
- Support the implementation of the IB internal fraud solution by coordinating business requirements, data inputs, monitoring scenarios, control design, testing, implementation readiness, post-implementation review, and adoption across the relevant IB markets.
- Maintain the inventory of monitoring rules, detection logic, alert criteria, data sources, and manual controls. Assess their effectiveness, identify gaps, and recommend enhancements to strengthen coverage, accuracy, operational efficiency, and consistency across IB markets.
