- Schedule: 09:00 AM - 05:30 PM EST (Eastern Standard Time).
Key Responsibilities
- Bankruptcy Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on proofs of claim, discharges, motions for relief, means tests, exemptions, and trustee procedures.
- Authority Gathering: Utilize local court resources, PACER, and legal databases to collect statutes and case law. Synthesize findings into concise English memos and briefs.
- Document Preparation: Draft research memoranda, case summaries, and issue analyses. Prepare outlines for motions and objections using attorney templates.
- Data Extraction & Organization: Extract facts from schedules, SOFAs, and claims registers. Maintain meticulous research logs for high case volumes.
- Quality Control: Meet strict deadlines with near-zero error rates. Perform systematic cite checks conforming to firm style guides and local rules.
- Collaboration & Ethics: Proactively flag risks to attorneys and paralegals.
Handle sensitive client information with absolute discretion and ethical integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- English Proficiency: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (Legal English proficiency is a significant plus).
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of legal research tools (PACER, Westlaw, Lexis, or Bloomberg Law) and a strong grasp of Ch. 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy processes.
- Analytical Rigor: Demonstrated ability to deliver structured analyses and maintain extreme attention to detail under tight time constraints.
- Software Skills: Advanced use of MS Office, PDF tools, citation tools, and case management systems.
- Work Ethic: Proven ability to handle high-volume requests and a long-term professional growth vision.
