Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Report Developer builds Power BI reports and dashboards that turn data into useful information for stakeholders across the Inspire Brands portfolio, including Dunkin’, Arby’s, Sonic, Jimmy John’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Baskin Robbins.

This role partners closely with the data modeling team to take the semantic models they produce and surface them through reports that restaurant operators, franchisees, brand teams, and the Support Center can use day to day. The developer translates business questions from each audience into Power BI visuals, pages, and reports that answer those questions clearly.

The work supports more than 22,000 restaurants, so reports must be reliable, fast, and easy to read on the first try. The developer is responsible for the look, layout, interactivity, and overall user experience of every report they ship.

Day to day, this person writes DAX, builds visuals, configures filters and bookmarks, applies row level security, and publishes content to the Power BI service. The role requires close collaboration with model developers, business analysts, and stakeholder groups to gather requirements, share drafts, and refine the final product.

Success is measured by the adoption of the reports they produce and the quality of the decisions those reports help our brands and franchisees make.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, build, and publish Power BI reports and dashboards that meet the needs of restaurant operators, franchisees, brand teams, and Support Center users.
- Partner with the data modeling team to understand the structure and content of available semantic models, and provide feedback when changes would improve reporting.

- Translate business questions from each of the six brands into clear visuals, report pages, and interactive experiences in Power BI.
- Write and tune DAX measures and calculated columns steps to support report functionality and performance.
- Apply Inspire visual standards and brand guidelines to every report so users have a consistent experience across the portfolio.
- Configure row-level security, workspace permissions, and content distribution so each stakeholder group sees only the data appropriate to them.
- Test reports thoroughly before release, validating numbers against source systems and confirming that filters, drill paths, and bookmarks behave as expected.
- Document each published report, including its purpose, audience, refresh schedule, source model, and any known limitations.
- Support end users after launch by triaging issues, answering usage questions, and making refinements as feedback comes in.
- Monitor report performance, page load times, and dataset refresh health, and resolve issues before they affect users in the field.
- Maintain version control of report files, follow the team’s deployment process, and use deployment pipelines to move content from development through production.
- Stay current on Power BI features and new visual types,

and bring useful capabilities into the team’s work where they fit.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum: 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Statistics, or a related field.
- Preferred: Microsoft certification related to Power BI or Microsoft Fabric, such as the Power BI Data Analyst Associate credential.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, the Power BI service, deployment pipelines, and the Power BI mobile app.
- Working knowledge of DAX, including iterators, time intelligence, variables, and context transition.
- Working knowledge of Power Query and the DAX language for shaping data inside reports when needed.
- Solid SQL skills, with the ability to read complex queries, profile sources, and validate report numbers against the underlying data.
- Understanding of dimensional modeling, including star schemas and relationships, so the developer can navigate the team’s semantic models and ask informed questions.
- Strong eye for visual design, including layout, color, typography, and the principles of effective data visualization.
- Ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders, including franchisees and restaurant operators, and turn those requirements into report features.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to demo work, walk users through new reports, and document what was built.
- Comfortable working on multiple reports at once, prioritizing across brands, and meeting committed delivery dates.
- Familiarity with row-level security, workspace governance, and the basics of Power BI administration.
