In close partnership with GRS Data Science Solutions (DSS), our teams are dismantling legacy business workflows and replacing them with intelligent, AI-native solutions.

This is not a maintenance role — it is an opportunity to build a team from nothing and lead highly visible transformation work. You are the first hire on this team. You will help design its shape, hire the ten engineers who join it, and establish how it works with squads in the United States.

Within your first year you will grow the pod from yourself to a full complement of Principal, Senior, mid-level, and Associate engineers, and land its first production deliveries in Reinvent Underwriting and Core Data Science products.

Job summary You will lead a high-performing engineering squad designing and implementing production-grade generative AI and agentic workflow solutions. As a thought leader and hands-on manager, you will help shape how the organization adopts emerging agentic engineering techniques, influence technical direction at the leadership level, and cultivate a team culture of continuous learning and bold innovation. You will partner deeply with DSS data scientists to ensure data-centric solutions are accurate, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities: Building the LATAM pod - Co-own hiring for the pod: sourcing, interviewing, and selecting across Principal, Senior, mid-level, and Associate levels, working with HR International Americas and Talent Acquisition.

- Establish the pod’s ways of working: ceremonies, on-call and incident practices, code review standards, and onboarding for engineers new to the domain.




- Set up the collaboration model with US-based squads and DSS counterparts across time zones, and make time-zone overlap work in practice.
- Partner with Liberty Seguros colleagues on the local operating needs of a growing technical team, including workspace and equipment readiness. Thought leadership, technical direction and cross-functional collaboration - Champion agentic engineering techniques across the team, driving adoption of frameworks such as Spec-Driven Development, TDD, Loops, etc.
- Evaluate and advocate for new GenAI technologies and patterns; lead their assessment, selection, and integration into the team’s engineering practices.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work in close, day-to-day collaboration with data scientists to align solution design, development, and production deployment strategies.
- Bridge the gap between data science experimentation and robust, scalable engineering delivery.
- Establish shared goals, KPIs, and ways of working with DS counterparts and Product Owners to ensure coherent end-to-end solution delivery. Team leadership and delivery - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, providing technical coaching and career guidance.
- Monitor and drive team effectiveness; remove blockers, manage cross-team dependencies, and maintain a high-velocity delivery cadence.
- Manage performance, conduct reviews, and champion professional development including stretch assignments and rotations.
- Own delivery, quality, and burn for the pod. Engineering excellence - Uphold high standards for code quality, security, scalability, and architecture across all team deliverables.




- Advocate for the elimination of technical debt and responsible management of total cost of ownership.
- Champion agile practices and a culture of iterative improvement.

Skills and technologies - Programming languages Python, TypeScript / Node.js - Frontend React - Data SQL and relational database concepts, Postgres / pgvector, Redshift - Pipelines Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3 - Service architecture Microservices, REST APIs, JSON, Postman - CI/CD GitHub Actions preferred, or equivalent such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Azure DevOps - AWS CDK, Glue, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, DynamoDB, ECS, Fargate, SQS, API Gateway, AgentCore - Observability DataDog, MLflow 3 - GenAI LLM orchestration, search systems, context engineering Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.

- 8+ years of relevant experience in software engineering or product management, including delivery in agile environments.
- 2+ years as a team lead, engineering manager, or equivalent leadership role.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing or leading engineering teams.
- Proven ability to build collaborative cross-functional partnerships and drive consensus. Highly competitive candidates will have - Hands-on experience with GenAI concepts, technologies, and production implementations.
- Deep familiarity with agentic engineering frameworks and techniques.
- Experience operating with geographically dispersed engineering teams.
- Experience hiring and building a technical team from the ground up.
- A demonstrated history of driving measurable, strategic business outcomes through technology implementations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of influencing technical direction and engaging stakeholders at all levels — you will be crafting compelling stories and presenting often. Language requirements - English: C1 (advanced) required. This role presents regularly to GRS engineering, business, and executive stakeholders in the United States and negotiates scope and priorities across time zones. Fluent, spontaneous English is a condition of the role and there is no exception at this level.
