About Sluicebox
Our mission is to enable the world to invent and build better products.
Sluicebox is building autonomous AI systems that help manufacturers understand, report, and improve the environmental impact of complex products, starting with electronics and carbon. Manufacturers use Sluicebox to scale work that is otherwise manual, expert-heavy, and hard to trust: carbon/LCA analysis, supplier data collection, compliance responses, and product sustainability decisions.
We sell into a narrow, high-value market - sustainability and product leaders inside semiconductor, electronics, and complex-supply-chain manufacturers. This is not a market you win with volume. There are a finite number of accounts that matter, deals are consequential, and every touch has to count.
We are a small, high-ownership team where people do not just execute a playbook. They help define the problem, shape the strategy, and build the systems that make the company faster over time.
The role
We are looking for a Founding Growth / Demand Gen Lead: a data-driven, customer-obsessed, experimentally-minded operator who can build our demand engine from the ground up and put us in front of the right buyers.
This is not a brand or comms role. We are not looking for someone whose primary interest is tidying the website, polishing decks, or running awareness campaigns. We are looking for someone relentlessly focused on pipeline generation - finding new channels, running experiments, measuring cost and return obsessively, and doing the hands-on work to make it happen.
Because our market is niche and enterprise, spray-and-pray does not work. You cannot buy a giant lead list and blast it. You'll live in account-based motion: a finite universe of target accounts, coordinated omnichannel outreach, and creative ways to earn attention from buyers who are hard to reach by email alone. You should be excited by the constraint, not frustrated by it - the tight ICP is what makes creative, high-signal experiments the whole game.
You'll work closely with the founders and with sales, spend real time listening to customer calls and feeling the buyer's pain, and turn what's working into repeatable systems.
What you'll do
- Own the demand engine end-to-end - from picking the channels worth testing, to wiring up the campaigns, to measuring what converts to real pipeline (not just leads).
- Run a disciplined account-based motion against a finite, high-value target list - coordinated email, LinkedIn, and creative touchpoints against named accounts, with clear red/green status tracking.
- Design and run experiments across channels - paid (with a bias toward what actually yields for our ICP),
direct mail and creative outbound, webinars, events, expert-network/survey-style outreach, and content/AEO - treating each as a testable bet with a cost and a return.
- Instrument everything - build the measurement layer so we know cost per channel, return on cost, and pipeline closed, and can kill what isn't working fast.
- Get in front of customers - listen to sales calls and demos, absorb the customer profile and our wins, and turn them into messaging and frameworks that shorten the sales cycle.
- Partner tightly with sales - with a long enterprise sales cycle, your velocity is coupled to what's working in real deals; you'll feed and sharpen the pipeline, not run in a silo.
- Be AI-native in how you work - use modern, agent-driven, consumption-model tooling; understand how buyers now discover vendors through LLMs and AI search, not just Google.
- Turn ambiguity into leverage - clarify the problem, make good bets, and build systems that make future growth work faster.
What we're looking for
- Obsessed with numbers - cost, return on cost, new channels, new deals. You measure yourself on pipeline closed, and you treat the budget like it's your own money.
- Experimentally minded - comfortable making bets, comfortable that most experiments will be marginal, and honest enough to cut the ones that aren't working instead of asking for "just a bit more time."
- Execution-heavy and hands-on - you wire up the campaigns and cadences yourself. You have a strong tendency to get your hands dirty.
- High intellectual horsepower and pliable - you can take a customer profile and, within days, come back with "here's what I'd test, here's how I'd measure it, here's what I'd look at first." Not "give me six months of discovery and panels."
- Genuinely customer-obsessed - you want to be in front of buyers, listen to calls, and feel the pain viscerally.
- Comfortable in a niche enterprise motion - you understand why account-based beats volume when the ICP is small, and you get energy from creative ways to reach hard-to-reach buyers.
- Technical and AI-savvy - you can "get" a technical product and technical buyers, and you understand how AI is changing both tooling and buyer discovery.
- High-ownership - comfortable operating without a fully specified playbook or someone else defining the work.
We care less about formal titles or years of experience than about judgment,
ownership, learning speed, and the ability to make the future faster.
This may not be the role for you if
- You need a defined marketing playbook or a PM/founder to spec the work before you can make progress.
- You're primarily a brand, comms, or content-polish person rather than a pipeline person.
- You want to run mass, volume-based lead-gen and are uncomfortable with a small, named-account universe.
- You're excited by launching campaigns but not by rigorous measurement, killing losing bets, or edge cases.
- You optimize for activity and vanity metrics over pipeline closed.
- You'd rather stay behind a dashboard than sit in on customer and sales calls.
- You need to hire an agency or team under you to do the presente work - this is a build-it-yourself, first-hire role.
How we work
We are remote-first. The team meets in person roughly once per quarter at offsites.
Sluicebox is small, fast-moving, and highly collaborative. Everyone has a lot of agency and is expected to contribute to product direction, GTM direction, and company learning.
We value
- Drive Clarity - clarify messy problems and make good decisions.
- Extreme Ownership - own outcomes (pipeline, revenue), not just activities.
- Bias for Action - move quickly, learn quickly, cut what isn't working.
- Raise the Bar - improve the quality of the funnel, the messaging, and the team.
- Delight & Earn Trust - build things customers and teammates can rely on.
We use AI heavily where it makes sense - in the product, in internal workflows, and in how we run growth.
What success looks like In your first few months, you will have:
- Stood up a measurable demand engine with clear cost and pipeline attribution per channel.
- Run a portfolio of channel experiments against our named-account ICP and doubled down on the ones that generate real, sales-qualified pipeline.
- Built strong context on our customers, buyers, and wins - and turned it into messaging and frameworks that help sales.
- Earned trust as someone who can operate in ambiguity, make good bets, and know when to cut.
- Created leverage that makes future growth and revenue work faster.
Why join
You'll join a small team where an exceptional first growth hire can have unusually high impact - you're building the engine, not inheriting one.
You'll work on hard, real-world go-to-market problems at the intersection of sustainability, manufacturing, and applied AI, selling consequential software into a market that rewards creativity and precision over volume.
If you want to own pipeline rather than execute someone else's playbook, run creative experiments against a high-value ICP, and turn constraint into leverage, we'd love to talk.
