The Structural Steel Detailer supports the technical execution of structural steel detailing projects by developing accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and project-related material information using SDS2. This role reviews contract documents, incorporates project requirements and revisions, and prepares detailing deliverables that support steel fabrication and erection activities.
Working within the Project Execution team, the Structural Steel Detailer collaborates with modelers, checkers, project engineers, and project management personnel to maintain accurate project information and identify detailing issues requiring coordination or clarification. This position also supports erection drawing development and material take-off activities as workload requires, providing flexibility across project execution workflows while continuing to develop technical detailing capabilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesStructural Steel Modeling and Detailing
Generate and edit fabrication shop drawings for use by steel fabricators in manufacturing individual structural steel components.
Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and other contract documents to understand project scope and detailing requirements.
Maintain consistency between contract documents and associated detailing deliverables.
Erection Drawings and Material Support
Create and update erection drawings used to support field assembly and erection of structural steel.
Support erection drawing development and editing activities based on project schedules and workload requirements.
Prepare material take-offs and related project information to support fabrication, procurement, and erection activities as assigned.
Coordinate detailing information with modelers, checkers, and other Project Execution team members to maintain consistency across project deliverables.
