Org. Setting and Reporting
- This position is located in Bogotá in the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC). The Transport Officer will be in charge of the Transport Unit and will report to the Chief of Service Delivery Section. The incumbent is responsible for the following main duties. 1. Management of surface transport services in the UNVMC. 2. Implementation of measures and initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents and transport-related incidents within the UNVMC. 3. Development and management of the UNVMC Surface Transport Standard Operating Procedures. 4. Development and management of the Transport Unit budget for the UNVMC. 5. Supervision of the training activities to enhance the capacity of international and national staff members.
- Responsibilities
- Fleet Management/Sector Motor Transport duties: - Plan, manages and supervises the provision of the surface motor transport support in the UNVMC.



- Develops and implements the Vehicle Establishment Program in accordance with the decisions of the Mission Vehicle Establishment Committee and the current Department of Peacekeeping Operations/Department of Filed Support policies and directives on the acquisition, receipt, distribution, maintenance, utilization and disposal of the surface transport fleet. - Develops and implements the Mission Vehicle Acquisition Plan, the Mission Vehicle Maintenance Plan and the Mission Vehicle Recovery Plan in order to ensure that a filed mission fleet is optimized to meet operational requirements. - Develops and implements the Active Road Accident Prevention and Road Safety Programs for the UNVMC. - Oversees the implementation of the Driving Test Program in the UNVMC and monitors staff is issued with UN driving permits in order to ensure that all vehicle users have minimum driving skills and understand host country road rules and regulations. - Develops and implements a cost-effective plan for the surface transport resupply in the UNVMC, determining the appro
